I checked the weather about 15 times yesterday and was looking forward to getting outside bright and early for my 10 miler. Roads are clear and it was going to be in the upper teens. Alarm went off at 4:15 and there was snow outside. Grrr. Snuggled back in to bed and decided I'd do one of my shorter runs on the tm. Probably a decent call as my legs are still a little sore from this weekend.

I really am ready for the temps/snow to let up a bit though.

Hate to break it to you but I just read that the midwest is in for a "long duration snow event". bah.

Snow plus ice here. bah again. I'm still waiting for my super cheap free shipping headlight to arrive to give the dark runs another try anyway, so it wasn't like I was going to head out this a.m.. Even with the light I likely would not have braved the icy surfaces. So 3 miles today on the gym treadmill. I'd like to make it hilly to increase intensity, but we'll see how much I've got in me after the blood donation yesterday. And my legs are still a little sore from the bit of weekend leg weights I did. Hello, inner thighs! I haven't heard from you in a while! So it may be an easy run. We'll see.

Even though I had "Me and Rodney Yee" stuck in my head - to the tune of "Me and Bobby McGee" - for much of the evening. I didn't do any yoga. The site where they drew the blood on my right arm really hurt. The same thing happened once before, and I'm pretty sure it was the same woman doing the draw. What it feels like is that the needle is suctioning the other side of the vein from the inside and I told her it was hurting, stabby-like, and she made adjustments and it got better. But it hurt more afterward, usually I don't have any pain at all. Still hurts today, bruised like it got hit by a hammer.

The snow's coming this way tonight. They say we're gonna get half of what we got the day after Christmas. Half the duration of snowfall, half the wind speed, half the accumulation. But that still could be enough to make things yucky tomorrow. So tomorrow will probably be another TM run...

Speaking of which, I was on the thing for a little over an hour last night. 7.6 miles at an avg 8:32 pace. Not bad. I feel a little beat up today, so if I run, it'll be short and slow...

I haven't even bothered to check the weather. I just assume that there will be snow since it seems like there is always snow up here!

60 min on the treadmill. It seemed sooooo long. Glad to be done. Currently feeling quite relaxed. Ahhhhh.

Oh and BigG, that story would make me not want to give blood again. Typically, I don't find blood draws painful either, but yeesh!

Yeah, I guess I should just suck it up and realize I will be on the treadmill all week again. I actually had a great run this morning. 5 miles - started at 9:22 pace and finished at 7:45 pace. All felt good. I need to get my miles in and get back on track. I think I am ready for a good season.

Nettie - I keep meaning to tell you congrats on your move/new job - so belated congrats!!

I don't know how you guys give blood and run. I mean, it is great, but giving blood kicks my butt for weeks.

I am very much sick of having the poor footing conditions caused by this "major snow event" that has seemed to be all of the past 2 months. blech

6 SLOW miles last night...like sand again. Like normal, about half way around the 2nd time I seriously doubt my sanity and want a ride back to the car. The slippage is just hell on my ankle and about that time, it starts to hurt real bad and I lose some mobility in it and that slows my pace greatly.

I need to get out for some kind of hill w/o prior to the movie. Key is finding a hill that isn't slippery. blech again.

Morning all. Alarm clock was messed up this AM, so I overslept and missed my run. Gonna try and get in 3 at lunch time. Not sure what the rest of the week will entail with the weather. Tomorrow is snowed out, and I was planning on working from home Th-Fr, which sometimes messes things up.

Morning all and great job to everyone making it happen this morning! I met up with my regular Tuesday morning running buddy and ended up with 8.25 miles done and done. Today was the first day I felt truly cold (the benefit of having an ultra-warm body temp most of the time) but the wind wasn't that bad, suppose it was a combo of that wind and the temps (20s) and having gloves on instead of the trusty Paradox mittens ...btw, Cindi - have you found any replacements??

Looking forward to seeing the Hood to Coast movie tonight! Will be meeting up with a big group of folks to have a beer and some fried pickles beforehand ...hellllloooo winning combo! Looks like we have a good sized group of 30s seeing it as well... Amy, Lora, Brandy, Baggs, Cindi, Tonya, KP, anyone else? Have fun!

Morning Gang -

Count me in with the MN Peeps that are sick of this ultra long snow event. I'd rather get a huge storm than the slow steady snow we've been getting and will be getting. At least with a huge storm the plows come around (where I live in the burbs) and the roads are ok then to run on. With this couple of inches of slop the roads are too greasy to run on and the plows aren't here as quick/often. SO - since I have a big week on the schedule I actually forced myself to pack my gym bag last night with my work/getting ready stuff and I hit the gym before work and did 10 miles (w/ 5x1000m at 7:19 pace) on the TM. Yes, you read that right, I actually hit double digits on the TM. And it wasn't super horrible! Just a little horrible. But the bad part of gym workouts before work is now I'm gonna have a bad hair day.

Hoping to make it to Hood to Coast tonight, DS just called from the school nurse and said he feels sick. I told him to try to tough it out. Bad mom.

No, I haven't found Brooks Paradox yet Maria. Grrrr.

Paradox Mitten? I think I might have those - I like them but have made 2 small holes in each one in the inner liner. It hasn't made a difference in how they work but it can be annoying.

They seem to be everywhere I go - check Sheels, Sports Authority and TC Running Cindi

A running buddy of mine bought the Craft Active Mitten and really likes them. They are quite a bit warmer and since he has that Reynaulds thing going on, they are working wonderfully for him.

Brandy - I have a hole in one of my inner liners too, it's convenient when I get pissed off at drivers ...except I have to quickly rip off the outer liner.

wait, maybe I don't have the same ones then - mine have 2 layers but are sewn together. You could always keep your hands nice and warm and flick them off Ross/Moncia style

Confession: Instead of running on the treadmill I went to Wong's for lunch. I blame Maureen for posting on FB about the Great Wall chinese place closing in her neck of the woods. OK, no I don't really, I'm a grown adult and make my own decisions. I will have to hit the mill tonight. Sigh.

In brighter running news, I got new shorts from the Running Room and I lovvve them. I want to wear them for every work out. I'm going to have to get more. They're Adidas SuperNova Dual shorts, they have a black boy short compression-ey type liner and a whispery thin baggy-ish outer short and they're Not. Too. Short. Which is key.

A nap right now would be fantastico.

This is what I am talking about - they look bulky but aren't and I guess are super warm. He normally wears something on his hands under 50F or so. These are working pretty good so far and we have been under 0 already this year.
