Looking to bake up a whole mass of cookies, bars, mixed nuts and what not again this Christmas to give to family and friends. I like to go with lower fat, healthier versions of baked goods if at all possible. Care to share your favorite recipes?

Many thanks!

I just spent a day in the kitchen with my aunt. She showed me her trick to reduce fat in cookies:

- instead of 2 sticks of butter in a cookie recipe, she uses 1 stick and substitutes a 1/2 cup of canola oil

- for recipes with raisins or cranberries, she reduces the sugar by 1/2 cup (from 1.5 cups, to 1 cup sugar) because the raisins or cranberries add sweetness.

Would the full quantity of butter and sugar make for more tasty cookies? Sure, but I did not complain with the outcome.

Did you try Cooking Light? They always have good suggestions. I'm in the same boat and haven't had time yet to look anything up. If I get time tonight I will post what I find. LF/LS baking is tricky, you almost never get the same taste or texture as you do with traditional recipes, I've found. Adequate moisture is the key, especially if you substitute WW pastry flour for the white.
