Slightly changed course this year but I'm sure still a blast. Who's goin'? It looks like this is number 10 for me. It's a great long run for Bull Run, if one does not race it hard.

Man, I never would've guessed HAT has 10,000' of gain ! The course, while hilly for sure, just didn't feel THAT tough.

Course change? Darn! One of the reasons I liked HAT so much was that I could compare all my previous races. I guess I'll have start the comparisons anew with my 6th straight HAT later this month.

What a great day for HAT today! My observations and understandings about the
new course:
1. It's quite a bit harder - lots more elevation gain which had quite a cumulative effect.
2. I was told it's about 1.5 miles longer and was mismeasured before.
3. The stream crossings were much more "streamy" without a clear good place
to cross them - that became a little strategy element.
Hence, most times were slower, a lot slower. I was 5 minutes slower than last
year (which was all muddy), but I felt I ran a better and harder race this year.
I did finish 27th this year, compared to 31st last year, so that was a good metric.

And man, they've really outdone themselves on the shwag once again! $48 reg
fee = 1 tech hat, 1 baseball hat, one small HAT run insulated cooler, one HAT run koozie, 1 long sleeve day-glow Brooks tech running shirt (Podium zip top) with HAT run stuff on it (probably would have cost $40 or more), then of course, all of the food and
stuff on the course, including fresh french fries at the mile ~26 aid station.

Good luck to all.
