Hope everyone and their sweetie has a great day today.

Easy recovery run afterschool before the bus leaves should be no problem since I only need like 4. Well we got another dump of fresh snow...hopefully sometime this place unthaws and melts that vile crap.

Happy Valentine's Day, Alex -- you have a great day, too.

Rest day here and travel day. I may be scarce around these parts for a few days, and I hope everyone's training and racing are to their liking. Especially those of you healing up right now!

Question for those who have run Boston -- how long does it typically take to receive entry confirmation from mailing in registration? I mailed mine in beginning of the month.

Good morning all -- happy valentines day. Alex - enjoy the recovery run and I hope you get better luck with the weather soon...

I did a long tempo / steady state run this morning. 10 miles total - 8 at 6:25 pace with a 1 mile warm up and a 1 mile cool down.

This is the first time I've done faster stuff since doing the Goofy Challenge in January and it felt very good.

Nice run this morning, loopy! I think I would need coffee and fuel in me to pull that off so early!

Well there were cheerios and espresso involved...

As for Boston, last year and this year, I registered online and got email confirmation within a week or two. It may be different through the mail though. Have you checked the entrants list on the BAA web site?

Good morning all.

Nothing for me this morning. I was supposed to go to the pool. But everyone in the office wanted to go for breakfast @ 6. so I decided to be part of the crew and went to eat. I will go later this morning of just after lunch. The pool is closed during lunch for water aerobics so a lunchtime swim is out of the question.

Loopy - nice run this morning.

Alex - Have a good run later.

SGH - Enjoy that rest day.

Enjoy the easy run Alex and I definitely concur about wanting a warm-up. That Al Gore doesn't know what he's talking about...

Good luck on the travel SGH. Hope all goes well.

Wow Loopy, that's a great workout for early morning. If I can ever get myself to wake up early for a run, it'd gonna be an easy workout, not that.

Well, pretty much a nightmare night for me last night and it was all my fault. My wife and I decided that since we refuse to do anything for Valentine's Day, we got Pizza last night. (It makes sense to us anyway..) Well, I didn't want her to have to wait for my run to finish to eat, so we ate right after work, and I went on my run after that. 3 miles into it, I had to stop to keep from puking on my shiny new treadmill. Gave myself 20 minutes to let things settle down, and when I realized that wasn't gonna happen I decided to just get through it. Hopped back on the mill and suffered through 10 more miles for 13 on the day.

Will do at least 7 tonight and you better believe I'll do it before supper. I really miss the days when I used to eat while I ran.

Just saw your comment from last night Apple. I'm enjoying the treadmill quite a bit since we've had a lot of windy weather here in Ohio since I got it. One advantage that I hadn't really planned on is it's letting me spend a lot more time with my wife. She usually goes to bed so early that after I get home and run for 1.5 hours, we really only get to be together for a little bit. Now she can come down and talk to me during my run which I guess is a positive as long as she's not in a nagging mood...

Loopy--how do you do it?!

Mailbox--been there, done that. Chicken corn chowder or shish-ka-bobs aren't much better...

Fishbowl only for me this morning. I must have screwed up my counting, because I finished the workout in exactly the time my coach had down.

Son and I will head out for a ride this afternoon. It's gonna be a cold one, but at least the roads are cleared!

Mailbox-- I agree that Al Gore doesn't know what he is talking.

Alex-- I'm in the same predicament as you. Snow, Snow and more Snow.

Last night I went outside and shoveled 2-3 inches of snow. This morning I went outside to get the newspaper and whoa!!! at least 5 more inches of snow on top of what I had already cleared from the driveway. I really need to purchase a snow blower. Anyway, I am hoping to go out for a 5 mile run later today. I think the roads should be good enough by then. Have a great morning everyone.

Loopy- 8 mile tempo? Whew, I imagine you are in sub-3 shape now!

Day off for me, too. Ran 6.1 miles easy last night in 51 minutes. I don't mind 20F temps, as long as the wind stays down.

Weather permitting, I am planning on a 5k race on Saturday. If the roads are clear, I want to use the performance to set the early season VDOT and current training paces for the next few weeks.

Have a great day!

Hey everyone,

Just got back from an easy five miler...which for me is a 10:00 pace. I'm excited for our dinner plans for tonight - going to a cool little restauraunt here in Portland - owned by a longtime Portland runner and supporter of the Portland Marathon - you can check it out at : http://www.noblerotpdx.com/ I still have to get my wife a card - which is way more important to her than where we eat!

Richard: I hear ya...I can't stand the TM either
Dan: Hey it should be clear and warmer up there - should be 60 and sunny this weekend in Portland.
Mailbox: Wow, 13 on a TM...and while feeling sick! I can still eat whatever I want...for instance, yesterday I had a ton of pizza for lunch, and then almost a whole bag of Smartfood Popcorn before running my 8 miles. I don't recommend it - but it happened. Felt fine the whole way!

I'll post a bit more in a few minutes...time for breakfast!

Hey everyone, here is the view from my hotel room the last couple days. I got a nice run in on the boardwalk and had the privilege of running with a sub three hour marathoner, which was cool. He's the track and cross country coach for the high school in his town..and being that I was a football player and had ZERO interest in running when I was a teenager, it was cool to pick his brain and get some advice.

Happy Valentines Day!
Hey everyone. Looks like you all are doing quite well...

I was so pissed off after yesterday's run not being perfect, as Apple said, that I decided to just go and do the elliptical machine again after work. So here's the report for that --

12.89 miles, 66 minutes, 5:07 pace

I decided that today I'm going to try running (however many miles I can) in shoes from the past, rather than the new shoes I am wearing now--the ones I was wearing when this shit happened the day after the Superbowl...

Just in case, though, I have scheduled an appointment with the doctor in the morning. I am betting 10 to 1 that the shoes are NOT going to help, so it's time to take more drastic measures. I'm

GOING INSANE.

Tonya, I think we are both probably guilty of trying to do a little too much early in the season. I definitely hope your news ends up being better than mine was!

Tonya-- I hope that everything goes well for you and you are back running soon.

The official snow measurement from outside my house is 7.5-8 inches of snow. My brother got stuck in the snow storm on the interstate. A 45 minuted drive took him roughly 4-4 1/2 hrs to drive. Have a great day everyone.
