+1 on the healing hugs for all. That includes you too, tomwhite. A great big ol' dislike on that flareup. It'll get better, I'm sure.

Congrats to Erika on your outstanding race! I have so much to catch up on here, and am looking forward to reading the report.

Oh, and happy birthday to a particular rather youngish Kickster from across the pond... I think he's finally old enough to be in this forum legally...

I didn't get to post yesterday, but I did run. My usual 5.5 mile route in the park in 50 minutes, more or less. Before I had my Garmin, I used to clock that route at 48 or 49 minutes. I also thought the route was 5⅔ miles. Obviously I've had measurement issues... Regardless, yesterday's time was excellent for me, and I'm very pleased. Not something I can do for every run, but it's good to know I can push the speed when I choose to.

That said, today's run will be of a more relaxed pace, I think. I think I'm sort of starting to get how it's good to vary the effort and distance of my runs, and I like how I don't always want to run easy, like I have in the past. Everyday is a new adventure.

And speaking of adventures, last night we went to a concert in NYC. Saw Steven Page (formerly of Barenaked Ladies) with his new band, who are primarily classical musicians. The violinist was particularly exceptional, and I enjoyed watching her, in spite of her wardrobe choice (not a real green dress, that's cruel!):

The venue was a tiny place, the Highline Ballroom, which was set up like dinner theatre. I took the train in from town with our friends and met MrOM already in the city, getting there barely an hour before the show started. Luckily they served dinner there too, so everything worked out perfectly.

But I have to say, the highlight of the show was the opening act, Kate Miller-Heidke. I had no idea who she was by name, until I found some song clips and recognized this one (warning: highly explicit language is involved). So all in all, a really fun night with friends, and on a school night to boot!

Have a great day, everyone.
