Thanks, Hally. I went out in the cold rain for the Mercy Turkey Run here in Ft. Smith, Ark. It was much bigger than I expected and was a benefit for the new Ronald McDonald House for a hospital (where my SIL used to work as a doctor), a place for families to stay when the baby is in the NICU. 3 of the hospital workers ran & therefore won a free turkey so that's awesome!

I did about 2.5 mile warmup, then lined up. The 5k and 10k had the same start and finish, but the 5k was an out-and-back and the 10k runners kept going on a loop at our turnaround. I picked out 4 runners throughout the race and passed them all, so I feel good about that (funny hat guy, big butt girl, yellow jacket guy and sucking wind girl). I only looked at my watch once, about a half mile, to see how my pacing was. I may have gone out a little fast but it was a gradual downhill and a tailwind so you know what we had coming back!

I watched the clock at the finish and hit 27:00 exactly. About 100 ft. gain and loss. From the look of the pack I would say I finished about the top 10% but it was a fun run so no way to know. A bag of Chocolate Caramel Chex and a short cooldown. I'm a little disappointed that I'm 2 minutes back from my PR a year ago but I get to push it harder in a week for a time trial. It was great to be around other runners for a change because I've always done my runs solo here!

eta-Congrats, KS!

It was 31 degrees at the start, and I'm afraid I was wayyyy overdressed for the Gobble Gobble Gobble 4-miler. My unofficial time was 30:50 (7:42 pace), and I'm a wee bit disappointed. I had been hoping to bring it in closer to 30:00. I think i ran the first mile a bit too fast, though (7:08) and I struggled to hold my pace later on along the route. I got hotter and hotter and had to take off my gloves and hat and unzip my fleece to cool off toward the end.

Now, on to feasting and giving thanks!

Nice racing, ks, Opie, and Robin. I just ran with friends with whom I'll be sharing dinner later today. I ran one pecan-pie-slice equivalent.

ETA: ks, I hope you appreciate the cooler weather that's coming your way. We're paying for it up here--temp was 24F on my run today.

Congratulations to all of you racers.

Thanks for starting us out Hally. I considered it but was afraid to pull the trigger and possibly fork the daily three days in a row.

Gym w/ for me today, focusing on core and upper body. Now we're off to my SIL's house to feast and give thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving all....Giving thanks for blessings great and small today. And tweeners.

5k in 21 something...I'm not going to pay too much attention to the clock time, and am hoping that the chip time will show I came in in 20 something.

Total of 7.8 miles with warm up and cool down added in.

Best part was that at the end of the pack was a man who was celebrating his 90th birthday. As he came down the home stretch, he got a huge ovation from the crowd that was waiting for him, lining both sides of the roadway - hundreds of the ~ 1500 people stayed until he finished, and sang Happy Birthday as he finished with his granddaughters and their boyfriends.

BTY....nice racing. I bet it was 20 and change. And, thanks for sharing that story of the birthday youngster. Those are the kind of moments that make you proud of all those other runners who cheered him in. Awesome.

Good racing, all of you! Wow, nice job.

I turned down the opportunity to race and instead hit the trails. mmm, good -- a trail run, pumpkin pie, and a warm house. I'm thankful!

Some good racing today KR Masters!

I ran one today also. The mileage always drives me nuts... Couldn't they have added on another .02? 4.748 miles. I wasn't expecting a lot today, but I was happy with the effort. I have earned my under 35 seed card for next year. Out of the last 11 years, it was my 8th fastest . I also got to see Gin today!

Love all the racing reports - lots of fun all around. Especially the birthday boy story - really great!

I was planning to run this morning, but have been fighting a smidgeon of cold - bit of a cough that wakes me up at 3:30am, but not terrible.

So instead, I slept in, finally fixed the salad and green bead casserole, had a fabulous Thanksgiving meal at SIL's house - great family, great food!

Came home and lounged around watching football, then ran the neighborhood 5K at 6pm, just after the cold front had begun filtering in. About 60F and dropping, sprinkling rain, loved it. Had a side stitch, probably from that second helping of green bean casserole and cornbread dressing and gravy. Or maybe it was the pumpkin roll with Cool Whip on top. It was worth it - legs felt great and kept a 9:20 pace throughout.

Looking forward to 6 on Saturday.

Oh - I never posted about the 23 miles LAST Saturday - longest run ever of my life so far. Short version - it was not a wall I hit at mile 21, it was a Mack truck coming at me. Looking back, I think the diet had something to do with it. Perhaps movie popcorn and a large Diet Coke are not the best choice the night before. I also did not fuel up enough before and during the run, I'm sure. Time - 4:51:17. Will be better next long run.

But "Megamind" was a lot of fun - I recommend it, very funny. You don't need to see it in 3D, although we did.

Great racing everybody. Robin, that is amazing you finished the same place overall two years in a row.

When I was in high school, thanksgiving morning was always long run day to get ready for all the food. Over the years it has become one of the biggest racing days all year.

I haven't run in almost 6 weeks so no racing but I did do 19.02 miles on the eliptical in 1:32:12. Burned off most of the turkey, green bean/potato casserole, sweet potatoes, baked corn, cole slaw, baked beans, fruit salad, and peach cobbler.
