Ugghhh - it's one of those mornings that I wished I'd stayed in bed.

Last night was a blast. We all made it up until midnight - even DD3. Great party. Crashed at around 1:30 AM. Up at 6:30 to get the kiddies ready for the parade. Wake DD1 up, she's good to go. Wake DD2 up and she says she wants to stay home (DW and DD3 were staying home anyway.) As DD1 and I are about to leave DD2 says she wants to go. Scramble to get her dressed and out the door we go. We get to about two miles from the train station when we hear that the start of the parade has been delayed until 12 noon because of rain showers! Turn around and now we're back home. We'll go back out in a little while and try it again. Of course now DD2 says she doesn't want to go again.

Oh the things we parents do for our children.

Anyway I hope everyone had a great NYE and is recovering well.

Happy 2008.

Hi Sara!
When Hank and I went to the dog park yesterday we met a pair of Danes. SOOOOOOOO pretty. Hank was blown away! Way bigger than him! They were so sweet! Hank kept trying to get them to run with him but they weren't into that.
In fact, most of the dogs there don't run like him. He tries to get the other dogs to race with him and they usually poop out after a short time (he wants to chase and be chased at top speed for the entire time he's there...). I guess I picked the right dog...

Still at the shore, but I'll be heading home shortly. It is gorgeous here, which is weird since the weather just an hour+ west of here in Philly is rainy... (Have fun at the parade, LL!)

Mary - what a cool way to spend NYE!
Jill - that is an awesome photo

Hey folks!!! Happy New Year to you all!!

Low key night at my brother's for NYE, except for 4 screaming kiddos who were way too excited and then up way too late as they all had meltdowns! But after they went to bed, the adults spent a few hours playing Simon, Perfection, and a slew of other kiddie games, fun stuff!

Hope you all have a fabulous start to the new year. Off to the final family party of the season!

Hello folks! Happy 2008!

Just back from the lake. It was a lot of fun. We also played board games (I'd never heard of them- one about zombies.. "Last Night on Earth" or something and another medieval card game thingy), ate, drank, laughed and slid down the icy dock ramp on cardboard! I've never slept on a boat, so it was funny to wake up in the middle of the night and try to work out why the place seemed to be moving a little and remember that I was on a boat! Place was pretty sweet, though- kitchen, living room with a nice TV, sun room, full heat, etc. This morning was beautiful too- clear blue skies with the sun reflecting off the water and mountains and trees in the background. Very unique NYE!

Sounds like most of you had fun, too. I'm looking forward to this year being a definite improvement on last year. Fingers crossed.

Well, off to take a nice hot shower and get ready for my parents to get here in an hour. Ciao.

Woo Hoo! Beth! Sounds like you have an excellent start on the New Year!

Winter was it Boggle?

My NYE was spent at my Moms, we completed a 1000 piece puzzle, grilled some steaks and salmon, had some wine, opened champagne at Midnight, each had a few sips since neither of us are much into champagne. Well, I am if it's reaaalllly good champagne, but I no can affordee the reallllly good stuff. Got home around 1:30. DD is still sleeping. Yoiks.

Woke up to a gorgeous sunny day, but it's 2 degrees out there, with wind chill -19. I may or may not run outdoors. I'd like to test out the new balaclavlalalala. Definitely going to run today, I feel inspired by Lora's post.

I can't decide if I want to spend the day really getting stuff done, like starting to paint the kitchen cabinetry, or if I want to spend the day just chillaxing with the kids. This weekend I will be at my sisters, we have a 5 mile race to run. Supah fun!

I wish you all a safe, happy, healthy and prosperous 2008!

G'morning everyone, and happy 2008 to all of ya!

Sounds like a lot of you had some really nice to seriously fun evenings (especially for LL, Mary & Beth.) I guess I was kinda' the yin to your folks' yang - just kinda' hung out by myself, picked up some jambalaya for dinner, surfed the web a bit (getting myself familiar with toe injury stuff - fun heh!) and realized as midnight crept closer that I'd gone through 41 of these NYE days. How time flies indeed...

Jill - great pic of your DD!

Got the Sabres-Penguins game on TV - outdoor hockey in the snow; hard to beat that

Happy New Year all!

Last day of sleeping in like I was a teenager. This has been the laziest vacation I've had in years. Other than that nagging voice in the back of my mind telling me I should have been productive, or domestic or something, it's been fantastic to absolve myself of doing pretty much anything other than shoveling snow and washing the occasion dish! Retirement is going to be awesome.

Jill - cool photo...that eye is fantastic!

It snowed an unexpected 10 inches here yesterday; and now we've accumulated another 3 or so already.

I think I'll be lounging in my pajamas for a couple hours and watch some movies and have some soup. In the interest of making 2008 a restful year (for a few hours, anyway!).

Have a great day, all!
