Boo and stuff!

I hope those of you fighting colds/flu are showing signs of improvement this morning.

I'm still peeved about my ankle. Straight forward motion is mostly okay, but I'm not about to even try anything sideways. The ankle is swollen (as expected), and of course, after almost not running for 2 weeks, I'm all bitchy and stuff about the timing. Things could certainly be worse, I know. They could certainly be better, though!

Oh yeah - and I burned the side of my neck with my electric heated hair straightener this morning. ouchies. >< Monday sucketh so far for me! How about you?!

((((Ail))))). The only good news is that it's candy day???

Ok, so the lousy feeling yesterday wasn't the wine (entirely)...I'm getting a head cold as well. About to put in a simple, easy 3 on the TM but that may be all for today.

In good news, my pumpkin that I carved I think looks pretty rockin' good and we are dressing up for trick or treating for the kiddos and handing out ring pops which I think is pretty darn nice of us. I think Sherpa Chris is getting a little too into the nazgol thing, though... :)

Craney - sorry to hear you are getting sick. I had to sleep all propped up last night thanks to my darn cold.

Kath - yeah, at UW the Rocky Horror Picture Show was shown at some theater at Midnight every weekend (if not every night) - just never ventured there.

I slept in this morning. No run for me. But I'll have a house full of people here later for Halloweening.

Still sick. Maybe not as leaky as yesterday, although as I type that my eyes started watering like crazy. Because my face isn't chapped enough already.

Morning

Ran 10 yesterday - Longest since the marathon and I got sucked into a group that said they were running "about 9s". Yeah, average pace was 854 and a couple of those miles were low 830-845. It felt ok though so I guess that is good although my legs were sore from the 5k and jumping around at the concert.

Cool thing was that I ran with this older guy and by older I mean the dude is 72. He is a local legend track coach I guess (I forget his name) and has been coaching for over 50 years. He beat me by over a minute in the 5K and was talking about how upsetting it was to get older and slower. His last year's TCM time was over a full hr over his best....he still finished in 348. Dang. He was asking me about my racing and I told him I did Des Moines. He asked if it was hilly. I said "oh it is like Ron Daws hilly" referring to the 25K that happens here in April named for a famous local runner. He assumed I was talking about the man, not the race because they were teammates. Dang

Went to the gym last night. Biked 20 min, ellipticalled 20 min and did some weights, core and balance work.

Then I proceeded to sleep like absolute carp. Egad - 3 hrs on Saturday night and 4 last night. Today will not be pretty

Fun: DD won most spirited cheerleader at all American cheer camp on Sunday. She was pumped!

Questionable: Dh, DD, and I went to see Footloose. Loved it, but not sure I should have let DH talk me in to taking DD. She asked some questions I'd like to delay answering:)

I am sleepy and have a bunch of stuff to do today. Better get crackin!

Morning friends. I got through the dissertation this weekend, which was a major accomplishment. It was a good thing I went to the coffee shop because I NEVER could have gotten through it at home. I would have taken 2000 naps. I also worked a bit on a cross-stitch picture I'd like to finish by Thanksgiving. At this point, that's a little ambitious, but if I can work an hour per night and then rock out on the weekends, I may be able to do it. It will definitely be done by Christmas. Finally, I successfully talked myself out of working on my landscaping. It's a right awful mess, and I have to do something before it starts snowing, but I just can't make myself go out there and do it. New plan is Friday. I'm such a slacker!

I'm sorry to hear that folks are still dealing with colds and achy parts. (((()))))

Pasta turkey bake turned out well, though I wish I had used cottage cheese instead of ricotta. Ricotta is what was called for, but I'm so used to substituting with cottage cheese, that I've just gotten used to the taste. Switching back to ricotta was weird. I'll make the spinach rice tomorrow night.

I'm successfully getting out of trick-or-treating tonight by going to Mass for All Saint's Day (eve). So few kids some to the house, it's not really worth it, and last year, I had a group of scary-looking (and not because of their costumes) adults come through, and I just do not hold with that. Plus, I don't really like kids unless they are related to me or a friend of mine. Still, I met my awesome neighbors across the street on Halloween, so who knows what I'll miss by not participating this year. I am going to raid Walgreens tomorrow morning for cheap after Halloween candy sales!

Love to you all!

Get well vibes to the sickies and hurties.

I had to take the day off from work today because the kiddo's daycare is closed. They are still without power after the weekend storm. I suppose there are worse things than being forced to spend a day playing with the kiddo instead of going to work. I hope my boss isn't too upset...

I actually got out to the gym this morning before anyone else woke up, and I did a little 1000 yard swim. At least it's something. There were two other guys swimming at 6:30 in the morning. They were both much older than me, and both much faster. Yes, I suck at swimming. I'm sure my form is terrible and I look like a fool flopping around out there. Well, it's exercise. And I think it's saving my legs from more pounding in these shoes that don't fit me. I should have the Wave Enigmas in another couple days, and hopefuly they'll fit better...

Good Morning

We got NO snow over the weekend. None. Zip. Zilch. Nada. And I'm ok with it. We often get our first snow on Halloween, but not this year. I saw that some schools downstate are also closed today. I hope that doesn't mean we're in for another long winter.

Not much on tap for Halloween. DD is going out trick or treating with her cousins and DS is staying home with me to hand out candy. Nice and low-key. Just how I like it.

Glad to hear that the WR 15s are out. I am going to check out a pair next month.

In running news, I got out for 4.5 yesterday. It wasn't perfect, but I'll take it.

Nice HM RiL - I'd take a 1:46 not racing any day.

Tonya - why is Tylenol better? I usually opt for ibu if I take anything - no real reason why though.

Hi Ron! I am leaving early too. Jake has a fall party today at 1:30, so I am going to hang out with him and then we are going to get some more Halloween decorations.

Prae- nice job getting through the dissertation and good luck with the cross stitching. I haven't done that in years.

I need to go back and review some threads - I see there is some ailing amongst us!

I took Seester Goon to see the Shoe Whisperer this weekend. She's been having so much knee pain that she hasn't been able to run at all. But Wendi figured it all out and set her up with new shoes, inserts and lifts - Twin thing, Goon's right leg is ALSO shorter than her left, by 6mm! Mine was 4 mm. And Wendi gave her some specific stretches and exercises to do so that she runs more balances and less twisted. It was a good worthwhile visit. And oddly enough, Goon and I both are in the same shoes - Brooks Dyad 6. She got in blue SuperFeet though, mine are the green ones.

We also hit IKEA and got Katie a new desk. I Love IKEA.

AND on Friday we sneakily got photos of the grandkids, and Goon shots for my Mom for her birthday. A good weekend overall.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Wow, difficult question to answer short. Basically you NEED inflammation in order to heal any injury. IB, Aleve, Motrin, etc are anti-inflammatories. While useful if the inflammation process is out of control, most folks are not out of control. So, only take drugs for what you need - pain relief. Hence Tylenol.

Morning all. Happy Halloween. We are not sure how trick or treating will be considering we have a foot of freakin snow. No school for the kids, and with what they are saying they may be home for a bit. More people are without power in CT then after Hurricane Irene. We had the worst winter on record, there was a tornado in June, a hurricane in August, and a foot of snow before Halloween. We have tons (literally) of branches and trees down. We never lost power, but we lost cable and Internet for about 24 hours. We will be having several friends over today for hot showers. Spent about 6 hours outside yesterday with the chain saw cutting up the stuff that fell down, and it looks like a barely made a dent. Mother Nature is pissed about something.

Today was supposed to be a vacation day for me, but I am working from home because the guy that was covering for me is sick.

morning peeps.

Litch and boB, we didn't get too much snow in Boston, but I called my father earlier and he's still without power. And I know they had to cancel some event at Foxboro yesterday because there was no power at the stadium. And the Komen 5K was canceled yesterday.

It was really weird to be driving in a snowstorm to a Halloween party, I'll say that much. I'm glad I only had a little over a mile to drive. My friend Jess came with me...here we are!

(Sadly, my hair looked great, all bouffanty and flipped...before I went out in the snow.)

Holy smokes, fast HM, RIL!

Sorry to hear about your ankle, Ail!

DrT, very interesting about Tylenol, although I can't take it, it makes me sick...I take either aspirin or advil, depending on what's up. I like aspirin for headaches.

Speaking of pain: I went to the dr this morning about my back. She's pretty sure it's sciatica and I have a Rx for PT now. I also got an xray this morning. Of course, I think a huge part of my problem is my mattress. I stayed at A's last night and of course, my back feels better today...Doc agreed the mattress might be a problem and said to talk to the PT about it to see if they have any suggestions before I bought a new one.

Litch - that sucks. Although my kids would probably LOVE trick or treating in a ton of snow.

Sipping on some chicken noodle soup right now. For dinner, I made meatballs in the crock pot and totally thought of Wippy.
