So I kind of strained my hammy this morning. It's not bad, just sore and twinges when I make certain movements.

This is the second time I have done this, each time while doing lunges. Guess what is off my list for good now? Lunges.

I'm supposed to run 55 minutes today, but I don't see that happeneing. ARGH. THis is so freakin' irritating. Hopefully some ice and rest the rest of the day will cure it.

I feel your pain. My right hammy has been bothering me for weeks. I am kind of hoping that I will just be able toget through the next two weeks and then my marathon taper will magically take care of it.

Treat that hammy well!

Ditto Muzicgrl ..I've had a crabby right hamstring nearly all year. It flares up and settles down; I find that giving it some extra special care (icing, lots of self massage and regular rolling w/the foam roller) help tremendously. Good luck!

Ugh!! I'm resisting the urge to run right now. I really wanna. It's nice outside and I just bought some fun new workout clothes. DAMN, I wanna run!!!

But as I walked up the 4 stairs to my house, it twinged again on me. So I know I need to wait until tomorrow to test it.

MG, I hope yours holds out until taper, too. That should help!

Well I already did interval workouts this morning (hence the lunging) so I've actually already worked out. But I miss running when I can't do it.

I should go swim, tho. I haven't been since my tri!

hi there... I sprained my right hamstring August of 2006 (didn't feel like it was serious at all). Took a couple of days off and went back to running even with some pain left. I could still run; ran 2 marathons through it. It never felt like it got worse, but it never went away. As a result, I've had a chronic problem for a little over a year now that has caused me a more serious overcompensation injury (which I didn't notice I was doing, course) on the left hip. I am coming back, upping my mileage again, getting ready for MCM, but the constant discomfort on the right side never goes away. Soooooo, I'd say be careful. Just my 2 cents worth of what can go wrong if we don't take the time to heal properly.

p.s: I recently found out that the problem was my right hammy... It had been "treated" and diagnosed as a right hip inury...

Resist the urge to push a strained hammy too hard. I did that in June, and then felt the telltale 'pop' in the hammy. Luckily it was just a severe strain and not a tear, but it wrecked my running for the Summer and probably cost me a Fall marathon.
