Morning

Uh oh.. perfect weather for Halloween... 70's high
Issues:
1.Those demons are going to keep us up later because of the delayed change in daylight savings time
2. Warm night, just perfect... they'll be bussing them into our neighboorhood... oy
3. DD2 is going to "Franklin Street" in Chapel Hill where there may be 40,000+ revelers on the closed street.. can get violent
4. Only have 138 treats... but if we run out, Tory can scare them off with his wolf look and deep bark

Other than that, can't wait!

Rest day here.. 2 mi walk with Tory

Nothing for me today. I'm on ambulance duty this morning since 6am and tonight I'm going to eating, er, actually "handing out" candy to the little ghouls and goblins in our condo complex. Our dynamic duo will be exhausted from barking but we usually remove the glass from our screen door so that they can see who's ringing the bell, and then the kids get a kick out of Truffle & Remy.

Tomorrow I'll do PT in the morning and a walk/jog in the evening.

Good runs & workouts to all today.....
The one time I did a vraa I injured myself running more then I should have for the team. We won, but I think I was out for 6 weeks.

MS or SS should be along to stir something up shortly.

I'm not going to stir anything up...just wanted to pop in and say "Hi". It's a rest day for me today.

I didn't get a chance to sit down all evening last night, as I was in the kitchen baking cupcakes for my daughters' parties at school today. I did have the TV on, though, and watched that NOVA marathon special. Did anyone else see it?

They took a group of non-exercisers and trained them to run a marathon many months out. (I'm not sure exactly how many). Most of them finished the marathon, but not in stellar fashion. One lady walked the entire last half due to some pain in her foot. Oy. (There were lots of injuries in this group...and somehow I doubt any of them will ever run another marathon, mabye not even another step!)

There was one guy who did pretty well. He had an advantage in that he'd been involved in athletics in HS and college and when they measured his VO2 max at the beginning his was pretty high. Anyway, he finished the marathon in a little over 4 hours. I think the others all came in over 5.5 hours...sorry, I don't remember exactly. Anyway, it was interesting.

I saw that too and thought it was very interesting. DH, who's a non-runner, was fascinated. There were 13 people originally and 12 of them ended up doing the marathon. The one woman who dropped out did so b/c she had stress fractures in both legs and b/c she's diabetic, they don't heal well. She was extremely disappointed. It was a good show, I thought. They took 9 months total to train. what I thought was most interesting was that only 1 person really changed her weight & body composition but the other participants stayed mostly the same, although their lung capacity & VO max (?) increased tremendously.

Yeah ksrunr, what hally said about vraa, don't injure yourself!

Since I workout after work, I won't have time tonight because of Halloween. I need to get home and get ready for the li'l ghouls and goblins. With Standard Time starting later this year, I wonder when the first kids are going to show up. We normally get around 150 - 200 kids, but we always shut down by 8:00 pm. It gives us an hour or so to clam down the cats before we go to bed.

Whaddaya mean stir things up? I'm dull, dull, dull, as dishwater today.

Yoga this morning - I'm slowly starting to feel less incompetent.

I hate to snivel, but this achilles thing isn't magically going away. Some things I read say to stretch it. That seems counter-intuitive, as I'm afraid I'll insult the injury more. Not sure whether yoga is helping or hurting. Will continue with ice and ibu.

Last night, I tried out my new super-sexy Strassburg Sock, per Hippo's recommendation. I must have trussed myself up too tight, as my toe-tips were so sore that they woke me up mid-way through the night.

This is what I've come to: Imagine - Me, sprawled across the bed (so far, so good), in blue flannel (ow) jammies with teddy-bears (jeez) on them, a Strassburg Sock (cringe) on one leg, and reading aloud from "Fixing Your Feet," in the section where they describe the shrieking that goes on when you inject Tincture of Benzoin into a macerated open blister. (Close door, tiptoe away, hope she didn't spot you).

*sigh*

Pro, I read your comments in the PRT on the NOVA special. I agree with you...it was painful to watch. (Sort of like watching a house on fire, though...gripping). I thought it was way too much, way too soon. (At least, it would be for me.)

Just so you can laugh at my expense, I won't even go back and edit the original post!

Now that MS and SS have showed up; it's going to get more interesting.

MS - my vet told me to stretch the achilles too but I did not as I believed it did more damage than good during the injury stage. I really think he meant to tell me to make sure and stretch after the injury healed. (Vet is friendly term).

I will have to clam up to little dogs tonight. They hate someone knocking at our door.

I'm not over doing vraa. These are the miles I was hoping to run to get ready for Disney and vraa fell into the training period. My quads are a bit barky this morning after my long run yesterday.

I didn't watch the NOVA program last night. I didn't even know about it. But on espn they had a program on called E 60 and they did a segment on one of the high profile foreign distance runner. Missed that too.
Did get to watch the biggest loser! I enjoy watching those people succeed in reaching their goals but hate the "reality" interaction between losers, coaches, etc. Seems to be getting more cranky.

KS, I like that show, too. I would love to have Bob as a trainer. The women trainers seem to bully their people, but he's just plain inspirational. I also like to see how much the contestants are changing as they drop the weight. There's a little more snarkiness now, and I don't enjoy seeing that side of people.
