OK, if I can chip away enough rust to loosen it up, I'll pull a spacer.

I cranked the resistance up this morning and really put some focus down. Big difference. I think my run is getting to the point where I can veg out during runs and still get it done. I will shift my focusing to the trainer. My little brain can handle 100% focus on everything....

Good, so when you ride, now look at your knees and make sure they stay in close to the top tube all the way through the stroke and don't splay out at the top, keep your elbows tucked in and your head up--I like to work on my form when doing the work sets and just relax for the rest. I'm not very natural on the aero bars, but by doing the work I think I'm getting a better and faster position.

Hey jr,

Haven't asked you any bike questions for a while. But look at my little project I redid for my son. It's a 15 or more year old Tomasso, and yes that's a leather Brooks.

Just dipping my toe in the water, kicking the tires, that kind of thing. Don't nobody get excited, I haven't jumped the Active shark yet.

For some reason, the only part of my biking I do not need to work on is knee position. No idea why, but knees stay nice and tucked without effort.

But that reminds me of the hilarious pic of you in that Cyclocross race with your elbows locked and your knees about a meter apart. Post that one here before everyone thinks tooooo highly of you!

Dropped my bars down a bit, will try it out tomorrow.

In fairness to ME I had just jumped on the bike about a milisecond before the picture was snapped! Nice looking Tomasso with Shimano 8, the real bike snobs would cry that it's not Campy with downtube shifters. I love my steel bike, I actually road race on a bike similar to that one.

There's no proof of that.

I am on the lookout for a nice steel bike. I'm thinking I should be able to find something over here reasonable. Not looking super serious, just keeping my eyes open.

I love my Surly long haul trucker, it's cheap, lots of room for feders and has a very slow steering and laid back geometry. My daily driver is an Eddy Merckx MX Leader, they are getting to be collectors bikes, mine is a freaking tank of a bike

Oh - Contarie, look at the video link below, you will see about one minute in an s-turn onto an uphill with a barrier at the top, the picture was snapped right by the pine tree, you will note the rather large building in the background, this being Canada it contains an ice rink and many yelling parents.

Kick Me Fred... that's a VERY cool video... I really dig the zig-zag-zig-again by the baseball diamond, and on that one section where they list names and team affiliation, I was wishing you didn't come in with two others so that I could see your name. Speaking of your name, I heard it announced a few times!

Nice job.

I race cross up in Canada a lot, it's kind of neat beacuse people cheer for me by name, not that I'm good, I just show up for work year after year.

Quite amazing technique you guys all have. Although it was hard to spot you at times, I just looked for the mis-matched bike, helmet, and jersery. And there you were.

Say, while I have your ear... do you have a picture of your dog when it fell aside against the chain of your bike? I was telling my girl about that. She thought it was funny.

Hmmm.. with a file name ending in "men flash," I was expecting a very different video.

Yeah, I remember this pic. You posted it right after you told me not to worry about scratching the paint on my pretty bike, because without scratches, dings, dents, duct tape, and baling wire, a bike just looks stupid. Uh huh.

Actually what I really took from this pic was a sense of shame. I know I should keep my bikes in better condition, and here I see a bike that I know is ridden (roden? hey, that makes sense!) quite often, normally in icky conditions, but it looks like it just came off the showroom floor. My road bike is stitting next to me right now on the trainer, with a tone of road filth. If it wasn't so easy to post here, I would stop and go clean it.

That picture was snapped with zero miles on the bike, I had the shop build it up and I think they even waxed it. It's in the midst of winter number two of salt-slush riding, so it's not so pretty. I'm lucky to have a laudry sink next to the back door so I can wash it and bring it inside after riding, but it's still corroding. During the summer, I bolt a baby seat on it, this summer I may see if I can borrow one of those "bugger" things that bolts on the seatpost, my daughter is still on training wheels and I'd like to do some longer rides with my son.
