Hello tri geeks, I'm switching forums. A little about me: I run really slowly and my new Garmin watch can provide a graph of exactly how slow once we get to know each other a little better.<br><br>

thor--it's a garmen 305 gps watch--it's kind of a stupid device, but I'm easially amused. It's a nice data logger when I'm on the trainer and knowing exactly how fast I run has been, well, sobering.<br><br>
I'm planning to use the run above as the start of my hopefully injury free progression to a weekly 15 mile long run, which I'll retain. The other couple days will be shorter. Once it melts off a little, I'm going to do Long, tempo and something on the track, hopefully that will do it.<br><br>
I'd like to try American Zofinger, Powerman Ohio and Maybe the duathlon worlds if I can get my run squared away, which from the graph above is a teensy way off.<br><br>
Who knows where that picture is, we are awsh in pictures. If you have kids, you will be in the same boat...

Most of you know me but I'll jump onboard and give a little info about me too!<br>
I used to be a triatlete, then my trianing for my first marathon (after a great 1/2 IM) was interrupted by a routine surgery which resulted in strange complications. Since then I've been swimming open water but my quarterly attempt to return to running routinely fail. I've swum as far as I've ever run (the catalina channel).<br><br>
When i was very much younger I raced USCF (cycling) districts and nationals among others but it was way in the past and my racing machines are "classics"

Hi all. I am assuming most of you posted over at CR. Well I am new to Triathlons. I have done one a few years back. I really didn't train at all. Absolutely no swimming and had to borrow a bike. I was hooked but didn't want to spend the money on a bike and too cheap to buy a cheap bike.<br><br>
So three months ago I finally bought one. Now I am ready to verture into the Tri seen. I was planning on doing my first in June but I found out last week I will be deploying to Iraq during the summer. So now I am scrambling to find one before I leave in May and want it to be somewhat close to the house. No luck so far finding one within a few hours. I am still searching though.<br><br>
I really need to work on my swimming, that is by far my weak area. I know though I don't want to waste to much time focusing on swimming. For now my main focus is cycling. I can run though.<br><br>
I just went out and bought the Triathlon training bible. So now I have a lot of reading and training to do before I start my first real Tri race.<br><br>
Just wanted to introduce myself and my background a little.

I have been in and out this week cause of the holidays and stuff--and just NOW this forum! YIPPEE --I am SO excited we have a tri forum now!<br><br>

I am new to the tri scene--and am addicted...LOL<br><br>
not sure what my schedule really looks like cause of money--why are races so damn expensive? I really want to do an OLY but its $90!!!!!!!! why?????

CAigr - I am in Phenix City Alabama. I have found a few in FL that I can do but they are 5 and 6 hours away. I was hoping for something closer. I am still searching though. I did start swimming this month. I am swimming twice a week right now. At least when I have access to a pool.<br><br>
Maybe you can point me to a good website. I have look at <a href="http://www.trifind.com" target="_blank">www.trifind.com</a>.<br><br>

Jim--I wanted to reply to your question from the other forum--you may want to try lowering your stem now, rather than when you are riding outside, you don't have to look up as much indoors and you can use a mirror to see how flat your back is--remember that dropping your front usually means also sliding the seat forward to compensate. I finally got my stem as low as the bike allows and I'm getting more used to it, it took a few months.
