New Babies are wonderful! Congratulations to Mommy KJ and family!

Thank you for all your good wishes yesterday. They worked. While the presentation was odd, I acquitted myself well, fielded all questions and the group I presented too is now on board. The senior member of their group tried to push me around a little but I would have none of it and he eventually came round. Men...

Maureen: The cast picture looks marvelous. Very sharp! Good job on the costumes. Congratulations on your opening night success.

Dave: Good for you for making good use of your time while you are looking for work.

Maria: Are you still hung over?

Greetings from the hospital in sunny Newport Beach. No ocean view rooms were available but still a good view of mountains.

Grayson Gabriel West was born yesterday at 8:01 a.m. He weighed in at 8 lb 2 oz and is 19 1/2 inches. He hadn't gotten the memo he was being born so he wasn't breathing on his own when he first came out. The dr breathed for him the first minute or so and he has been fine since. He is getting circumcised right now!

I love love love the name, KJ! Welcome Grayson to this wonderful crazy world. Glad you figured out the breathing thing, it's kinda important. (KJ, I can't even imagine how terrifying that minute must have been.)

It snowed last night. AND it's still on the ground this morning! HOW RUDE!

Big Day today: Today is the day that I take on the garage door. I had made the decision to replace it but I've since learned that I need new back brakes and rotors. So....off to home depot I go. Then pumpkin carving with DS#3 and trick or treating.

QOD: When I was a kid, my mom would always make one of the meals she considered healthy but that we kids did not like. Liver and onions comes to mind. She knew and we knew that we didn't have a choice but to eat it since the philosophy in our house was: If you don't eat your supper, you don't leave the table. (at least not without holding your breath until you turned purple and fell out of your chair) She did it, I now understand, to balance against all the sugar and crap we were about to eat. I don't think she did it to be cruel. Then again, maybe she did it because she knew she could. I'll have to ask her sometime. Which brings me to my QOD. Did your mom or dad have a special meal they served you for supper on Halloween?

Fun: Pizza for lunch. Made all the fixings for it yesterday (it's a process, which is why I don't eat it often), but then spent the afternoon/evening paying for a taste (and I mean like a 1/4 tsp size taste) of goat cheese. Anyway, I'm having pizza for lunch and it is YUMMY.

QOD: Cider and donuts (the ones covered in powdered sugar, or spice cake ones white frosting and orange/black sprinkles). We rarely had donuts in the house - maybe once every 3-4 months? So it was a treat to have them for dessert.

Winter - My mom didn't make liver often, but when she did (with or without onions) I used to pass mine, bite by bite, under the table to my brother and he would eat it for me. But he was sitting 3 seats over, so it had to go through my sister and other brother's hands before it got to him. Ew. He ate it for me though.

Ew. Thank goodness my mom never made me eat liver. Mom mom did make me eat canned beets one time. I protested, yet I had to eat them. I ended up crying so much I threw up. Gah. LAST WEEK I tried my first beet since that incident. Nope, still don't like them. But at least no tears were involved.

QOD: Nothing special for Halloween. We lived in a rural area too, so trick or treating is nothing like it is for my kids in our neighborhood. Fun: My sister and her family are coming over! They always do for Halloween (as they live in a rural area). Can't wait to hang out with them.

Happy Bday Tim!

We're already out of candy. TONS of kids this year. Probably 90% of them were bussed in. At least they made an effort with their costumes this year. And lots of GREAT home made ones. The little kids especially, although I guess the credit for those goes to the parents.

And we got to meet a retired [german shepherd] assistance dog named Althea. She was so little compared to Gus!!! @55lbs. Which is probably about normal, but she seemed tiny.
