The girl is a natural runner.... she doesn't know the word "slow." The boy just turned 7 two days ago. They also swim and do all the kid sports.

The gym had run out of towels, and I’d forgotten to pack one for myself, so I was going to just put on dry clothes and go ahead and drive home. Then, I saw a few runner types (tights and sports bras gave them away!) go into the sauna. Ooooo….. sauna. I grabbed my mini water bottle from my pocket, plus the spare from my bag, and in I went. Such nice ladies. One of them had done the fateful hot Chicago and we heard about her experience. I invited them to steak for lunch, and only 1 ended up taking me up on it. Still, it was nice to sit in a warm room, stretch a bit, and meet & greet for awhile. Lunch was AWESOME!! I love steak. I just love it. Baked potato….warm bread. I even did great and didn’t get soda! It was tempting. I also had hot tea. Yowza!! And, tonight….I’m going to finish the rest of the cheesecake that I took home from when Tithers, Boyerdavea and I met up after the swim clinic.
All in all… I’m satisfied with how I did, but just a bit short of “happy.” The weather was definitely not in my favor, and my preparation was not adequate to repeat what I did the first time. However, I do have a reasonable idea of what I can handle for distances. I’ve confirmed that I need to consistently carry fluid with me. Stop laughing! I know this is something that y’all already probably know… I take a long time to learn some lessons! I’ve learned that there is a place inside of me that I can dig into when I start to feel “not so good” on a run. I’ve known where that place was in swimming for awhile…. And could push past it when needed. I’ve not really ever felt it before today on a run, though. And, even though my dad thinks it’s crazy, running in the rain/sleet/snow won’t kill you. It does make you stronger. It certainly makes you proud of yourself.
What’s next?
I’ve got a lot of stretching to do for the rest of the day and tomorrow. If the roads get super icky, I’ll stay home tomorrow rather than get out on the freeway for the 50 min drive to church. I’ll swim with master’s tomorrow… and do whatever I can do. Then… we’ll see. I have a 90 min massage scheduled for Monday. I. AM. SO. IN. HEAVEN!!!
My Car

No where near the snow that some folks got, but plenty for me on the roads. I just hope it doesn't freeze tonight, all that water on the roads will make them, "slicker than cat snot on a doorknob." (Dad always says that about icy steps and stuff.)

And, since I don't have an ice scraper in my car, or a brush....I had to get creative:

"Dixie Ice Scraper"

The snow on the hood will melt in a minute or two of letting the engine run, or else it just blows off! For the windshield, a credit or debit card works well for scrapping off ice! I've never tried inviting guys I meet in the sauna out for dinner - I might get some funny looks!
