I've run 3 marathons and about a dozen half marathons. I've been out of running for 2 years and have just recently started back up.

I'm now committed to get back into running completely and so I've decided to use the 1/2 marathon to completion training schedule as my running basis.

So..

WHO wants to join me? Anyone care to join me in the first attempt at using one of the great programs here?

post here and we'll pick a start date! Then, we'll look to jcumming to be our coach and motivator...

I've got no race in mind.. I just want to be back to 'before'!

I'm ready... are you?

I might be interested in trying JC's plan. I'll probably aim for the VCM again, if I get in via the lottery. That race is Memorial Day weekend.

What race you lookin at doing Rich??? You don't have time for Houston (plus they are sold out) You could always do San Antonio with me next year!

I've got no race in mind at all. Not using it to get me to a race; rather I'd like to use it as a 'program' to follow to get back in shape. Once there, I can then decide if/when I race....

Will probably start as soon as I return to Houston. 12 weeks will take me to middle of February - I can catapult from there to any spring race. With a sound base, I'll be good to go whichever I'd like.

This is more a way to actually start using and promoting our training programs

K'

I'm starting this on Monday, the 26th of November! It's been two years since I've done any consistent running - My last 1/2 marathon was at an 8:20 pace. Currently, I'm running umm... well ALOT slower than that. I've got 15 pounds to cut that will be needed if I intend to get even close to my old times.

My running endurance right now isn't really that bad - running 55 minutes the other night.

So...

Here I go! Hopefully some will join !!!

Toe Jam: Are you a trainer? Cool!!! Hang out here and help encourage us)

also - we're STILL looking for a marathon training program. Care to write one for us?

Best,

Oooooh...can I join in too?? I am coming back slowly from an IT injury last spring/summer. I ran my first and only half in 2:01 last May and then was forced to cut mileage and take some time off from running last summer. SInce the end of August I have been SLOWLY trying to rebuild my base again so I can train for the half marathon I ran last spring again. My half training would officially start in Feb but would love to join this group as I think being part of a group where we are all working toward the same goal would be great! It has been a long 6 months and I am anxious to start gettting some long runs in again!

Right now I am running 4x a wk and increasing my mileage every 2wks...this wk I am at 17 and hope to be back into the 20's by mid January....taking it slow and easy but I am very nervous about reinjury. My long term goal is a full marathon next Oct so I need to be careful when training for this half. I am currently following a base building plan I cam up with on my own but am thinking about JC's plan for the actual spring half training.

Thanks
Satfix, you might consider the Lucky Trails run in Seabrook in March. Nice small race almost all on trails. I've done it the last two years. Last year they started a Saturday Half as well. You can run that and the Sunday Half, or the Sunday Marathon for a total of three medals.

I did the back to back Halfs last year cuz I'm a bigtime medal ho.

It was actually a lot of fun. The dates will be around Saint Patrick's day. I don't have it on the radar this year, but things could always change.
