Sorry it took me so long to put this up.

1. Why do I run? I love the feeling of coming home from a good run. It gives me something to look forward to, both the running itself and, if I’ve signed up for a race and am training for something, the finish line.

2. What is your greatest accomplishment?
Professionally: Signing on my first author when I worked in publishing as an acquisitions editor.
Personally: Raising my daughter. Also, loving and being loved by my many friends and family; living life as fully as possible while being true to myself.

3. What is your motto/theme song? Motto: I’m tough, I’m strong
Theme song: Walk the Walk by Poe

4. How do you deal with bad runs? I try to figure out what might have gone wrong and correct what made for a bad run. Sometimes I let it get me down, but not for too long because for every bad run there are many more good runs. I used to let it really get me down to where I’d question my ability as a runner.

5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? Not really. The satisfaction and pride I feel is reward enough.

6. Who do you admire the most? Me. I really like the person I’ve become.
Also, my father. He lived a brave life and even when he was dying of cancer he still had a great, big heart, and never felt sorry for himself. He was equally happy and at ease being the life of the party and standing on the bank of a brook fishing for trout in calm and quiet. I miss him very dearly.

7. What is the greatest advice you’ve ever received? Never say ‘I can’t’ as said to me as a child and adult by my father.

8. What do you wish you had learned younger? Nothing worthwhile comes easy. Success doesn’t fall into your lap; you have to earn it by making sacrifices, doing things that make you uncomfortable, and pushing past fears.

9. What do you wish you could to but can’t? See into the future. I’d love to be a faster runner, too.

10. How do your friends describe your personality? Open-hearted, loyal, genuine, sincere, open-minded, balanced, opinionated, compassionate, curious, comfortable to be around, easy laugh, passionate about a lot of stuff, smart, funny, silly, insightful…

11. What do you wear running? Blood, sweat and tears

12. What has been your favorite race? Bulldog 25k trail race…because training went smoothly and I learned a LOT, and it was a new and different challenge that I tackled all on my own. Very well organized race and attended by some truly incredible people. My first triathlon was an amazing experience and I pushed past a lot of discomfort and fears to prepare for and participate in that race.

13. Goal race now? My big goal will be Grand Tetons 50 miles, but also Surf City Marathon in 2008 and Toyota Desert Sprint Triathlon in April (with a goal of 1:35 *gulp*).

14. What makes you happy? Knowing that my future is in my hands and that if I want to have a fulfilling, happy and rewarding life, all I have to do is go out there and kick ass every single day. Seeing my daughter develop from a helpless newborn to a tree-climbing fearless little girl has been an observation of many miracles. Children are amazing beings.

15. Tell us an interesting thing about yourself? I grew up outside of Buffalo, NY and lived in a rural area. During the summer I’d pack myself a lunch and take off for hours. In the winter I’d shovel the snow from a nearby shallow (VERY shallow) pond and ice skate. I’ve never broken a bone in my body.

16. Tell us something interesting about another posted on this forum. Never mistake someone’s online personality for who they are in real life.
