My firms FSA plan goes from April 1 to March 30 each year rather than the normal calendar. We changed firms this year that handle our FSA accounts. In the past we had to mail or fax our receipts for co-pays, medicines etc to the firm processing our FSA account balances by the 15th of the month. A week later you received a check. If you missed the 15th then you had to wait till the next month to get reimbursed from your FSA account.

This year our FSA account is set up so that when we pay our dental or medical co-pays, a check will automatically be deposited in our account or mailed theoretically on a weekly basis, depending how each employee sets up their FSA account. I had a dental appointment yesterday and paid $37.00. So I'll see how soon I receive the reimbursement. I have the FSA account set up to automatically deposit to my checking account.

For our prescription reimbursement we do still have to fax in the receipts but those payments also are sent out on a weekly basis rather than monthly so I'll have to see whether it's more efficient.

I know a lot of firms give debit cards for FSA accounts but mine for whatever reason will not go that route.
