<span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;"><b>Tarte Au Sucre</b></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">This is a traditional Québecois pie. The recipe isn't a family heirloom but comes from the Québec Julia Child / Fanny Farmer / Betty Crocker: Jehane Benoit. It's perhaps an acquired taste.</span></span>
<ul><li><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">1/2 teaspoon baking soda</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">1 1/2 cup maple syrup</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">1 cup flour</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">1 cup brown sugar</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">1/2 cup butter</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">1 unbaked 10" single pie crust</span></span></li>
</ul><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">Stir the baking soda into the maple syrup and make sure it dissolves.</span></span><br><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">Mix the flour, sugar and butter with your fingertips. Should come out as a sandy mixture.</span></span><br><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">Pour the syrup / baking soda mixture into the pie crust.</span></span><br><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">Add the flour/sugar/butter mixture on top of the syrup in the pie crust.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">Bake at 350*F for 30 minutes, or until set.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:large;"><span style="font-family:Arial;"><b>Food Memories</b></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">Granny's house at holiday time.</span></span><br><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">Cabane A Sucre (Sugaring-off parties... google it)</span></span><br><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">Cold winter days after toboganning. Hot chocolate and this pie.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-size:large;">Lots and lots of calories. Get over it, it will put hair on your chest!</span></span>
