But only in the sense that I worked out and that's good.

Super tough 10 miles this morning. Took over 3 miles to settle in to a groove. Mile 6 it occured to me that I was really thirstly. At 7.5 the only reason I didn't walk home was A. I was running with somone and B. I was sweaty and walking around in 20 degree weather while wet sucks pretty bad.

A bunch of stuff all came together simply to make today's run tough. Sleep - my number one obstacle in training - not enough. Diet - I'm a new vegetarian and looking over the past week haven't gotten the protein and iron I've needed. I've been fatigued all week.

My quads are beat.

Time to make some hot chocolate and play a little game I like to call "Use every drop of hot water the new heater is capable of making"

Ok, I'm done whining. Thanks for listening.

Hi Pete!

Last spring, while training for the Flying Pig, I did not eat meat or fish all through Lent, essentially becoming an ovo-lacto vegetarian for 6 weeks. While the experience convinced me that I could make it permanent if I ever wanted to, I did notice that I had problems that I too associated with lack of protein and iron. I am thinking of doing it again for Lent this year and see if I can do it better.

There are some vegetarians around here, including Maccabeth, who could give you some ideas about how to balance your new diet and your activity.

Good luck and enjoy the warm shower.

Pete, I've been veg as long as I've been a runner. I've never had a lack of energy because of it. Perhaps it's just your body still adjusting to the new diet. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions! As Kris said, I love talking about veggie-ism!

Welcome!
