howdy!

We had some major thunder storms here around 5am this morning. Wow! I think the storm was Right. Over. My. House.

No matter. The sky is grey but it's starting to clear. Best yet, there is heat in the air! Actually Heat! I wore my new short trench coat and I wasn't cold. Sorry. We Canadians always think it's a miracle when we feel heat in the air for the first time in 6 months. I think, secretly, we all believe that spring won't actually come in any given year.

Back to my work and my Cuzco. Have a great day!

Howdy folks.

Breathe, wippy. Your dad is in good hands. Have faith, sister.

Not fun: Still continuing with post-storm damage crap. The problem tree is now gone, along with the crap that the county cut down from their road (not from my yard) and then dumped on my property. All at a mighty pretty penny, I must say, and most likely, not covered by insurance. Get this. Even if a tree is THREATENING to fall on your house / fence / shed, insurance won't cover it. They apparently insist that you cover it on your own. Of course, if you choose to wait until said tree does fall and cause potentially thousands more in damage, insurance will suck it up and pay out then.

That is absolutely ridiculous. ><

Also not fun: Remember 3 weeks ago that my place was broken into. Ever since I moved into the house, the address has been off of Hwy X., even though my driveway was actually off of Y road. (i'm at the corner of X and Y). Guests, UPS, appliance deliveries, etc have always had challenges finding the place by the true address, since there was never a driveway or mailbox there as a guide.

After the break-in (where the police also had difficulty finding the place), I got the county to change my address. Cool. I even have a letter from them to verify the change that X address shall now be known as Y address. I was in the process of notifying all my utilities, credit card companies, etc as each monthly bill came in. I can't remember off hand if I'd notified my homeowner's insurance yet, so like everyone that I've contacted since last Monday, I've been giving out both addresses. Apparently this is confusing my homeowner's insurance catastrophe claims department. The chick said she'd have to talk with her supervisor to see where to go from there. Argh. >< The damn house didn't pick up and move itself to a new location, people!

Anywho.. sorry to vent. I can roll with the punches most of the time, but occasionally something comes along, usually involving stupidity or complete inability to be flexible, and I get all bent out of shape. grrgrrgrrgrrgrr.

I never understood why insurance companies don't see that preventing something like that is usually WAY cheaper than having the damn tree tip over and crust the house or tip over and crush a human. WAY CHEAPER!!!

I am hoping you all make it through your struggles today. I hate to add one more to the list but:

We were greeted with horrific news this morning. A lady who works for our agency lost her 3 year old girl in a tragic accident yesterday. Her husband had the kids out of town this weekend. Sometime yesterday they somehow lost track of where she was. So everyone begins to search around the house and someone found her outside face down in the hot tub. They rushed her to the hospital and she lived a few hours before passing away. I've never had children and cannot even fathom what she is going through. Please pray for Tara and her family. Incredibly sad.

Insurance sucks.

Had a nice weekend with Seester Goon and the boyz. We ate quite well, I must say, grilling all weekend. Friday night I grilled up a marinated flank steak, baked potatoes and steamed asparagus, Saturday night was grilled greek chicken with tzatziki sauce, spanakorizo and steamed broccoli, and last night I grilled a large steelhead trout filet, more steamed asapragus and tossed salad. The trout was a lot like salmon, slightly more delicate in flavor. And wine with every meal. yowza I don't want to step on a scale this week.

Still struggling mightily with DS. Saturday was good though, he was the fun old RJ that we all remember and love to hang around.

(((Moe))) One day at a time sister, hang in there.

Maples - losing a child is by far my worst fear/nightmare. No parent should have to go through that. I can't even imagine. But I know it would absolutely break me. Sending love and healing vibes to them.

Got lots of little things done yesterday, including getting a walk in while leaving free samples of these around.

Kris had given me some of artist Bren Bataclan's postercards as an Xmas gift. Bataclan goes around to different locations around the world leaving samples of his art free for the finder, and I decided to leave some around my area as a way to hopefully leave a smile on some people's faces.

Ugh Ailarie - your dilemma sounds similar to this couple's, who had their mail mis-directed for years because of a what turned out to be a clerical error. Hopefully your issue is something that doesn't last as long

Moonie, I've told you before, but Bataclan's a Boston-area artist. I've met him a few times. :)

Ailarie, my current house has screwy address issues too. Our street address is actually our back door. My front door is on the street that crosses our street, but our house is actually at the point where 3 streets meet. I'm constantly having to tell people, this is my address, but my front door is across from THIS OTHER address...please come to that door. When I hosted a cast party recently, I had one of my artist friends write me a sign to hang up so people would go around to my front door instead, because 1) the back, shared hall isn't a lovely entrance to our house, and 2) my upstairs neighbors' bedroom is close to back door and they'd hear the late night coming and going.

All in all...it's a PITA.

Okay.. considering that I've ranted already, I figured I'd share a slightly comical moment from just now at the office.

I'm finishing up a packet with a new installation CD for a new client. I've used one of those ball point pens with the top clicker thingamagig for signing paperwork. I put all all items to be mailed to the right, flip my pen over and tap the end into the desk to click the pen into off position.

Instead, the clicking motion acts like a firing pen, and essentially shoots off the end of the pen, the spring and little ink stick into the air rocket-style. Luckily nothing landed where shouldn't have, but for a moment I definitely had this (smiley below) going on when I wondered why my pen wasn't clicking back and "what is that crap falling on me?!".
