Good morning. I did not sleep a wink last night, I am sick with a cold. I have been more sick in the past 5 weeks than I had been in the past 5 YEARS! WTF? I am still going to the turkey trot and hope to not keel over. Sigh.

Yesterday was prep day...I made ahead two of the three dishes I'll be taking to Mum's.

simmered cranberries 'n' pears (tangy and sweet goodness)....step away from traditional cranberry sauce in a can...

kickin' sweet potatoes...again, step away from the standard side dish...this one has freshly squeezed oranges and ground *chili* pepper in addition to the cinnamon and brown sugar

today I simply have to assemble a ginormous garden salad before heading to Madison

going to the ex-wife's house this afternoon...kids will be there with their assorted companions...I'm going to stay out of the kitchen cuz we all have different opinions about how things should be done...

tell me about pears and cranberries though...my mom used to make one of those cranberry, jello, grapes, nuts, etc salads that you see at midwest church potluck dinners...I like it, but other people look at me funny...

hello. we're back. ugh. we registered for the 5K and kids race and then it started to snow and hail and sleet, WTF? Zoe and I did the kid's race (half of the two loops) and i carried her 2/3 of the way. Then i put her in the stroller, which has a cover, and she was a little cranky and once we started was fine. After about 1.5 miles she started flipping out, so I eventually dropped out of the 5K when we went by the backside of the finish line. My girlfriend was inside with her baby, she did not have a cover for her jogging stroller,s o we hung out and ate food. AND they had the YUMMIEST thing! they had apple slices, dipped in pancake batter, pan fried and dusted with powdered sugar. OMG!

Porti -That recipes sounds yummy! My mom made a cranberry sauce with apples that she gave toeveryone - This sounds much like it- I have crans.. need to get pears and try it with leftovers.

DS and I went to a Tureky Trot. He ran I biked around - it was chilly biking a 20 degrees this morning. I saw a couple of people I knew and chatted with several others as always. Bird is in the oven.. DD and I made a pie together last night which was a sweet experience in more ways than one... 14 year old girls are fickle with their parental affection so I will treasure it a hopefully a new t-day tradition.
Happy Giblets everyone !
