There are some wonderful ideas here.

I think (wish?) I've got a sub 3:20 marathon in there somewhere, and I'm going to be coercing it out, hopefully by fall.

My goals are pretty simple (goals for work, well those are a different matter):

Miwok 100K finish top 25%
100 miles 24-27 h
Keep on Keeping on

I gave mileage goals a few years ago as I figured it is not the mileage but the substance of the runs that matter. That and injuries slowing you down.

Top Ten running goals for next year

2008....
1. WILL see me enter and complete my first ultra sometime during the year.
2. WILL see me go back to Georgia in May to get revenge on that crazy roller coaster trail event called Twisted Ankle that kicked my butt last year.
3. WILL see me stay healthy enough to average at least 35-40 mpw for the year.
4. Will see me continue my several year streak of volunteering at local races at least 12 times.
5. Will see me complete all four races in my local club's high mileage winter series and at least half of the trail series events.
6. Will see me be a minimum of ten pounds lighter at the end of the year than at the beginning.
7. Will see me feel faster and stronger at the end of the year than at the beginning, whether or not I actually am.
8. Will see me refusing to whine about heat or cold. Excess rain can still be whined about.
9. Will see me add more cyling to my routine.
10. Will see me enjoy running just as much as ever.

3. Run the Hartford Marathon in the fall
1-get in reasonable shape for the Red Sox fantasy camp in early Feb-which includes lots of throwing baseball in the cellar and visits to Baseball City for hitting practice with wooden bats (first time for me). Hope to pitch more innings this year and not break down.

2-get in reasonable shape to beat my PW for the marathon in the race in Boston in mid April

3-put in a high mileage base over the late spring/summer with plans to eclipse my PR's at 1M/5K and 10K
