Welcome to my thread about pie. Pie with a lard crust.

So, I was real proud of myself for finding some fresh, non-hydrogenated, lard yesterday at a Mexican grocery store.

I made a cherry pie with that shit. I guess I got the wrong kind of lard, because it was very piggy-tasting. I guess I needed more purified lard. It was almost like the grease you collect after frying bacon. So, you can imagine how that pie tasted.

What happened next illustrates the power of a fresh-baked pie:

My mom and brother ate that slop anyway. Behold the power of the idea of pie.

The next morning, mom had lain her dirty sandals on the counter, next to the remains of the pie. That's not like her.

Thank you for reading my pie post.
