Nice racing Mrs G and OM. You ladies rock

Have decided to cut my mileage back about 10% this week. Feel like I'm right on the edge of being burned out. With that in mind I ran 7.25 miles this morning at 8:40 pace. Some at 7:30 pace and some with the group at 10:15 pace. All over the place really and legs felt ok. May run tonight.

TW - I'm looking for a spring marathon next year. Knoxville might be the one. Also looking for a fall marathon this year. Idaho, Maine, ??

Nice 100 minutes on the bike and 4 miles at lunchtime. As March finished I counted up and I have done 18 hours less training compared to the same time last year. I feel pretty good and fresh so I shall now step up the efforts.

Hi John, glad you are listening to your body and cutting back. what will you do with all that extra time this week?!

Johnny, *yuck* on that diet you have to follow for your procedure. Never heard of that before. I think I'd rather just not eat anything. Although I do like eggs once inawhile. either hard boiled or scrambled.

congrats OM on your HM! Those were some impressive splits I saw (can't remember now if you posted the splits here or RA, or maybe both?), looks like you started out just the way you are supposed to by a slower warm up (10:04 if I recall correctly) and then maintained paces in the 9's and even a few 8's for a strong finish. Very smart racing!

As Johnny mentioned this wknd (but I wasn't able to post, only read! darn slow computer at home!), we ran a long run together on Saturday. 12 miles for me and since he's an overachiever, he got to our rendez vous locale early and ran a few miles). I ran another 3.7 yesterday in the warm sunshine, worked in my garden a bit, and did about 20 minutes of yoga last night. There's a yoga show that comes on at about 4:30 a.m. so I dvr'd an episode and got both my son and DH to join me in the yoga session last night. it was sort of comical to listen to DH say "that pose is impossible for men" or "am I supposed to pop when I do this?".

I've had 5 consecutive days of running now and am going to try and RAL today also. I have a deep tissue leg massage tomorrow so planning on resting tomorrow and wednesday.

10% cutback KS....that's still 2 good weeks for me

Gobi...just now starting to "step up"........it's tough posting on a site with elites.

6 days in a row..most impressive Tamster....you're channeling rip, pretty soon you'll be a Disco Diana....(wait you're way too young to have been around in that era )

So I call up the radio station I listen to on line, because I have the answer to their question. They play 3 songs in a row and you have to make the connection between them. They take a local winner and an out of town winner. So I keep calling on the out of town line, but couldn't get through and they ended up with NO out of town winner...grrrr..anyway the answer was they were all Muddy Waters covers. Todays his birthday.

To answer a question, I 'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow. I got a handout from the doctor telling me what to and what not to eat yesterday and today. so I'm just following directions like the good little trooper I am. Today's easy, I'm drinking lemon lime Gatorade and water only.

good running to all.

9 recovery-paced (a.k.a. non sweat-inducing) miles for me today. Legs feel OK, just the quads are a little achy. I hope to get to yoga class tonight.

Johnny, been there, done that....... but that's one of the oddest preps I've ever seen. Every time I've done it, it didn't matter what I ate until 2 days before, then nothing solid until the procedure. But they let me have Jello, at least! And every time was a different "cleanse" the night before.

Hey KS....come to Canada!........... Toronto Scotiabank Waterfront Marathon - 16 Oct (flat and fast!); Niagara Falls International Marathon - 23 Oct

I'm really happy about how well I recovered from Saturday's LR... that was a big confidence booster for me! Will run ~7 miles later after work today. Hope it isn't raining!

Later, all!

My local radio station does the House of Blues breaks with Dan Aykroyd. Pretty interesting.

I knew I was going to pay for yesterday and it made for a long 9 miles today. The AC was down at the fitness center so it was a little warmer (72°) and also very humid as warm weather brought thunder and lightning storms with it. 74 minutes total at 2% and my socks were soaked by the time I got done. I'll probably need a couple more recovery days at this rate.

OK, OK, I'll write something, give me a couple days. So maybe you should do some yoga in the meantime?

Hey, Knoxville sounds like fun... Holly and I were thinking of doing that next year. But 2012 might ("might") also be a year to try Boston again. Ah heck, I could do 'em both! :) ksrunr, if you're looking for a fall challenge, there's always the Equinox!

Congrats to Mrs G on a fine showing in her race this weekend. Must've been the amazing support crew, right?

Yay OM on her first half marathon! You did awesome! So.... how does our former non-racer like the race thing now?

Tammy, I can hear mine saying things like that. "You want me to bend what??" Sounds like a fun activity though, as long as no one gets stuck.

Rip took a PBJ Special to a whole new level! And then roofing in high winds. You sure know how to have fun.

Yesterday I ran 17.1 miles at 8:19 avg pace and felt great. Ran on the roads in regular shoes (as in, no screws). Felt wonderful!! Even found a couple patches of bare dirt! I was so excited. We've got some snow flurries forecast this week, but they won't amount to much and this crap won't stick around much longer. Yay! Tonight I'll go out for a little run while DH is watching B'ball, I'll be back in time for the end.

Ya know I don't race unless there's mud, roots and rocks involved, right?

Equinox, eh? Now you're talkin', Erika!

Nice LR yesterday, BTW! You just might get out of the screws before I do!

Good running today, gang!

Tamster, you've earned a couple of days off.

Great racing Mrs G and OM!

OM, it's hard to run all the tangents in that Central Park loop. There are too many turns. In my half there about 3 weeks ago Garmin claimed 13.3+.

Nice running going on around here. I needed to read all this enthusiasm, cuz I aint got none. Don't know where my mojo went but it's not here. Maybe it's this lingering cold. Anyway, 6 miles that seemed to go on forever today, 8:45 avg pace, which should normally have felt much easier than it did. I feel burnt out. Maybe some short intervals tomorrow will snap me out of this funk.

Johnny, hope everything "comes out all right" with the colonoscopy. I also hope the Boston taperers don't go completely bonkers in the next week or so.

I've had a couple of good rides the last couple of days. Yesterday my Garmin was temporarily dead, so I just went out for what seemed like the right distance, turned around & came back. I told DW I'd be gone about an hour and a half, and I was. Amazing internal clock. I checked the distance on the map later, after getting in trouble for not being ready to go to church, so I had to drive myself there.

Today after work I went to the meeting spot for what was supposed to be a group ride, but I was the only one who showed up. I had contacted the organizer last week, and she said they're called the "too" ride-some of them won't go cycling if it's too windy, too cold, etc. It was very windy today, even more than yesterday if that's possible. We've had gusts to 50. So I did a lap around the lake: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/77305253. Paul, the road winding back around to the north and west seemed a lot rougher than I remember from when we've run there, so it feels different to the tires than to our shoes, I guess. I'm watching the weather closely for Saturday's 33-mile tour. I've never ridden that far but have been told that's no problem with the shape I'm in.

Hey Opie! Good for you on riding in that wind. Ah hates the wind...

4.2 miles after work as easy as I could make them considering it's 2.25 miles mostly downhil, then turnaround and come back up. I stopped at the bottom of the steep hill to my road and walked it in. Nice temps in the low 40's, lots of slush but I'll sure be glad when the ice is gone.
