Good morning! I love that it is finals week. The traffic heading to work is so much lighter. Even yesterday with the flooding rains we had, my commute actually wasn't horrible as it would have otherwise been.

QODY: I wasn't sure if I had an answer to yesterday's QOD about weird habits until late in the evening when I grabbed a grapefruit out of the fridge to eat. I peel it like an orange and scrape every last bit of the white pith off. But because the membrane around the sections is too tough/chewy (and a bit bitter to boot), I peel that membrane off and just eat the pulpy bits. It would be far less work to cut the skin off and section it that way (and I do it that way for salads and such) or to cut in half and scoop out the sections (though I don't have a grapefruit spoon) but I like doing it this way for some reason.

How about a hypothetical for today's QOD:

If you could solve ONE of the world's problems, what would it be and why?

I think I would want everyone to have access to clean water and sanitation. That would cut down on the transmission of disease, ensure adequate irrigation for crops and help reduce hunger, and potentially help reduce conflict over limited resources. The one solution has a broader impact.

Got in a little over 4 last night. It wasn't bad out except when you were in the wind. Dog sure liked the temps :)

Running at the dome today - some tempo and interval work. It should total a little over 10 miles

Hey folks - been about 2 weeks since I have been around. What did I miss? KP, and duck, how are your recoveries progressing?

I have had the hiccups since Saturday. If they do not go away, I am going to a doc today (I am working from home). Three days of hiccups is just silly. Little sleep, and I feel like someone took a baseball bat to my ribs.

I'm going to be completely selfish in my answer because it's making me crabby today:

I want my f-ing back to heal or be fixed or whatever. I'm sick of lifting something more than 10lbs or bending over putting me in a world of hurt. .

its a rainy dreary day and despite my guilt, i sent AK to daycare because its my vacation and i need some debriefing after Parental Assault 2011. i'm coddling a cup of hot coffee, bella is snuggled at my feet, and i'm about to dive into a book i've been looking forward to reading. bliss :)

Good morning!

Well I didn't go anywhere but to class. But then my kids didn't need me so I came back and drank coffee! Happiness

Wonderful pictures yesterday. I grew up with dogs in the house, but enjoy cats now. We had a Lhasa Apso and for a brief time a Siberian Huskey. If we got a dog now it wouldn't be a big guy.

QOD - I would want every person in the world to look beyond their own nose. Too many problems in the world are a direct result of only considering their own narrow point of view.

QOD: install an accurate BS meter in all people. When what you're saying or doing is BS, the meter alerts you and forces you to correct your behavior.

PT was kind of interesting this morning. I woke up creaky and was running a little late, so I was barely warmed up when he met me at the treadmill. I shared those details first, then started to run. Running felt better than walking and he said it looked like 75% improvement on the running gait. I basically have clearance for anything that doesn't hurt now, but have a lot of stretching and strength stuff to keep up at home. In theory, this Friday will be my last appointment unless the increased activity causes a setback.

Litch - BOO! did I scare the hiccups away? Have you tried drinking from a straw while plugging your ears? It's the only thing that works for DH and DD.

It's snowing. And sticking. And the high is supposed to be 33*. And I have to drive 1.75 hours to STL this afternoon. And I need to connect through Chicago, where, thankfully, there is no precipitation expected. And I need to fly into White Plains which is supposed to be rainy. And I haven't finished my presentation. And my 10 minute drive to work took a half hour.

But it's all good. What will happen will happen.

QOD: So many good ones selected already! I think I would choose gender equality so women throughout the world would not be used as pawns in war, family disputes, etc. This would greatly reduce human trafficking, rape as a tool of war, and honor killings, among other things.

I have tried every home remedy imaginable. In the last half hour, I have had lemon juice, hot sauce, sugar, and vinegar. I have tried drinking water with my eyes closed, ears and nose plugged, hangin upside down off of the couch, holding my breath as long as possible, exercice, yada yada yada...

Litch - did you drink out of a glass upside down yet?

Ok, you're not actually upside down. Instead of drinking out of the side of the glass closest to you, you lean over the top of the glass and drink from the far edge. So you're sort of-but-not-really upside down.

Good luck and sage travels. Having been out of the loop, I did not realize what you had going on. I love Westchester airport - so muc easier to get in and out of than LGA, JFK, or EWR. I used to work right there (job from hell :)). For future reference, Stewart Airport in Newburgh is a little closer.
