Does anyone know if they'll fix the battery life problem?

24 hrs would make it really tempting, and 30+ hours would make it nearly irresistible.

Uh, it looks like they are continuing the downgrade of the battery life - 8 hours in training mode.

It also is not waterprooof, doesn't support multi-sports, doesn't have pace alerts, doesn't have time/distance.

But, it may provide an opportunity to cheaply upgrade to a 305 (from my 301).

Hey, you got excited and wanted to share

8 hours is crap, especially cause I was thinking of a multi-purpose use to mount to bike handlebars and no waterproof

It won't help the waterproof problem, but a crappy solution to the battery life issue (while running) would actually work well on a bike. Just get one of those "emergency cellphone chargers" and mount that on the bike too. I can charge my Garmin 205 in a little over an hour, and the Garmin can be running and functioning the whole time.

Garmin+charger is just slightly unwieldy to mount on my wrist while running, but I've definitely packed it into my waistpack and done the charging there and them put the Garmin back on my wrist after - all without losing miles run, pace, and all the other info.

This does look like it has some nice features, and apparently it can do the HRM stuff, but all I can see is a display with characters even smaller than what I can barely see at a glance on my 305. But I'll have to wait for some real user reviews before deciding anything.

After looking at the Garmin site for it, it looks like the same HRM strap from the 305 will work with it. Also, I'm not sure what they mean when they say it doesn't have "multi-sport". It does support the cycling cadence sensor, so maybe they just mean that you can't do multiple sports as a single type of activity.

I'll definitely have to download the manual as soon as it's available.

I agree about 8 hour battery life. The more "advanced" these devices get, the more juice they suck up.

Seems like whoever comes up with a breakthrough in increasing battery life is going to clean up on many fronts.

It's watertight submerged up to 1 meter.
My DS is working at the CES. I asked him, if he has the time, to check it out. Hopefully, he'll have the time.

Kind of like when they change shoe designs. Time to buy a few 301's. Larry

I'm kind of thinking that it doesn't do much more than my 305 can except the wireless connect, and looking purtier. I'm starting to kind of maybe sort of think about adding a Polar to the stable for swimming and treadmill support - and this doesn't really change my mind on that one. I am waiting for Polar to announce a new [email protected] model so I can pick up an older one less expensively.
