Running in the midwest and eastern trail races, I have not found the need to wear gaiters in the summer. Not yet.<br><br>
But for powder snow, I want gaiters. I'm running a 50k next week with the possibility of ankle to calf-high powder snow.<br><br>
What brands/models do you recommend?

Dirty Girls are inexpensive, and I like em cos they don't have the darned strap that runs under your shoe. Only problem is, you probably won't get them in time.

I wear <a href="http://www.outdoorresearch.com/home/style/home/gaiters/gaiters_trail/61055" target="_blank">OR Flex-Tex</a> gaiters when snowshoeing or running in the snow. I like 'em even though they have that darned strap under the foot that can be a pain in the butt to tie just right, but at least they keep the snow out.

Dirty Girls or Joe Trailman will work. I got mine from Joe fairly quick.

I use Joe Trailman (similar to Dirty Girl but plain black) for standard runs, but that type won't work in snow. Snow (especially heavy/wet spring corn) will push up under the gaiter, so you need the type that ties under the instep... Thanks, everyone for the suggestions. The local running store carried these OR gaiters, so I picked up a pair. And I like the weight.<br><br><br>
Thanks Muddy. It just so happens these OR gaiters have a lace and not a strap.

An alternative - I never like gaiters because they make your feet too hot and sweat even more. I much prefer a simple taping technique.
