Not a fun run this morning at all. 7.25 moh @ 8:30 pace. Some twinges in my groin/hip has me a bit nervous. Was suppose to run 10 but did I tell you it was just not a fun run? Don't say that very often.

Going to order new shoes (Brooks green silence). Have never run in them before but hear good things about them. Going to go buy some movie tickets for tonight as well. Then not much else on the agenda today.

Glad you're feeling better each day OM.

Hi KS!

I can relate!

[pity party ON]

You'd think I would be ready and raring to go, but in my little 2 mile shakeout run this morning, my right AT started to flare up, so I baled and walked it in. It had been a bit tight since last weekend's race, and I'd been massaging it and applying heat. Took some Motrin and have iced it twice already. May go to drug store for Aleve. Am trying to look up the Rock tape instructions, but my computer refuses to run any videos, ad the Adobe plug-in won't load properly! Grrrrrrr!

This does NOT bode well!

Hope everyone else has a wonderful day!

Good morning Heme, KS, and all who follow,

Heme - for the AT problem, ice has always helped me the most. The other thing I've commonly found is that the cause is usually a knot in the calf above; so include that in your massaging if you haven't already. My only other tip that helps me when mine is tight is to flex my foot more during the run and that relieves the AT of some of the work it wasn't willing to do anyway.

Morning (here anyway) Ks, Heme, & HappyFeat....and the rest that trickle in.

5.8 miles in the woods....starting to feel a little easier now, but obviously nowhere near normal. It's been 2 weeks since I eased back into it. Next injury, I need to do cardio x-training.

Sorry to hear about the groin / hip Ks (no hugs from me in that area), hopefully things will feel better soon....and I thought you were superman. (well compared to me you still are)

HappyFeat...I was wondering where you were will I was running this AM...glad you posted and I didn't have to call you out.

I find Heme, that I'm rarely, if ever, feeling even close to 100%. 80% I consider an excellent day....The Achilles tendon is the one thing I haven't injured......YET....hopefully HF's advice on the ice will work for you. I do believe there's a way you can wrap that to make it easier to run, but I don't know how...anyway. GL on your race this weekend.

OM..thinking of you...GL on your marathon monday.

ks, have someone look around the neighborhood. There's probably some kryptonite lying around.

Funny card, OM!

My right AT has been giving me trouble for weeks. But it only hurts in the first mile or so, then seems to lossen up and I don't feel a thing for the rest of the run. Been that way for about 3 months now. Hopefully that will be your experience, Heme.

I'm not using ice though. My PT thinks ice is overused and causes tightness in the connective tissues. It's fine for very focused application immediately following exercise, but even then she prefers I use nsaids instead for the inside, and deep tissue massage for the outside.

4 miles ez this morning, with some strides in the last mile.

Heme, I sure hope your AT doesn't cause you problems tomorrow. I've had achilles tendinitis before though and it's a real bear to get rid of (lots of pool running...).

Cute card, OM. I think I've done a few of those, and didn't know that I could do yoga! :)

Glad you're feeling better every day.

KS, I think your body is knocking at the door. Better listen up. Hope you get your sproink back soon, but don't push it.

Yay for goose-free runs, tomwhite! (yay for the run itself, too!)

Hey Mike. Interesting... I don't think nsaids are good for connective tissue. In fact, I've read that they inhibit the healing process for tendons and ligaments and such. I do know that when I stopped taking ibuprofen, my foot started to finally improve. Go figure. When I had the aforementioned achilles tendinitis, I did lots of icing but the main thing was to stop aggravating it... as in rest and XT in the pool.

We're having a mini-heat wave (Alaska style)! Temps in the low 80's forecast for the next few days, and we hit just over 20 hours of daylight so it feels like full blown summer here! Love it... Went out for a very sweaty 3.5 easy miles at lunch, ending at the gym where I met DH for some weights. Nice way to spend the mid-day break.

Our humidity is so low we've got wildfire warnings all over the place. With the holiday weekend coming up and all the related activities, I'll be really amazed if we don't torch a good bit of acreage. Just don't want another smoky summer!!
