I have a huge bowl of candy left over. It's because we had lots of older kids (like 14+++), so I started making them tell a joke or sing or do something. I seriously think we had a few college kids!! We have one neighbor who does this huge scary haunted yard/house thing, which is probably why.

Goon told me making them work would scare them away. Apparently, it did...but still...I mean, isn't there an age limit to this stuff??

G'morning folks.

Goal for the day: I will NOT go to the grocery store that I know has loads of leftover Halloween candy, now on sale for half price. I will not! There. It's a written contractural agreement now, yes?

I don't remember what age I stopped trick or treating. Probably 11 or 12 at most. I agree... teens have to earn their treats!

Hee hee....Crane, that's funny. I saw some tot-ers as I came home from work last night, but they don't really go around in the apartment complex. There is, however, a neighborhood right behind us which I imagine is where they go.

I would probably hoard the candy too....

Bunny bunny. Good morning, ladies.

Trick or treating was pretty disappointing around our area. I stayed home and manned the door while the wife and kid went out gathering candy. They had fun, which I guess is the most important thing. But I was really surprised by how few kids came by our house. And I was further disappoineted by the lack of manners in most of the kids. I was always taught to say "Trick or Treat" and then (most importantly) to say "Thank you" after the person gives you some candy. But so many of the kids just showed up at the door, held out their bag, and then turned and ran off right after getting something. Not a word spoken. That just seems like a bad job of parenting, if you don't ensure your kid says "Thank you"...

So yeah, we've got a ton of candy left over. Unfortunately, I'll probably eat a lot of it...

Lots of kidlets last night and older kids too. If you're willing to dress up and come to my door looking for candy, I'll give it to you...no age restrictions here!

Finished preparing the car pad for concrete pour...tamped the gravel on Saturday then cut the rebar and wired it in place. I traded my son's goalie ice sessons for the concrete pour. At least my wife will be happy to get my 62 off the front lawn before the snow flies. She was getting tired of people ringing the door bell looking to buy it.

Morning all.

Spent a long weekend with the guy and had a great time. I took him over to my brother's to introduce him to Baby Paige and my brother and SIL. I'm guessing I will get a stern phone call from my mother once she finds out this afternoon that my brother has been introduced and she has yet to meet Craig. We also went to a bonfire on saturday night where he met my best friend and her husband we had a great time but now my cough has come back. All in all it was a fantastic weekend and I can't wait till friday when I can see him again!

Halloween was fun here. Sis and family came over. Lots of candy, lots of kids, lots of fun. DS was EXHAUSTED by the end of the night though. 4-5 mile obstacle course mud run + Halloween festivites = 1 tired boy.

Fun: Girls on the Run practice 5K is tonight!! We are going all out! I have 25 signs for the course, sweet finisher medals, and we are going to have multi-colored lights at the finish (thanks to DH's band). Finishing up my playlists and getting everything ready. I will only work a half day today as I'll have to mark the course, put signs out, etc. Can't wait!!

We always have a good number of kids that do the trick or treat thing. Mostly they are very polite (only a few like Bob mentioned). Our neighborhood is one that people walk all over and some even drive to. We had a steady stream for ~1.5 hours. Once dark fell, it was done. We don't have candy left....that's just as well!

Good morning!

Luckily, I don't have a candy hangover this morning! I took the kiddos trick or treating while DH manned the house. We started off in a group of 10, but wound up breaking into age groups becuase the older ones can move a lot quicker. Apparently, we had a ton of kids, but we still overbought. My neighbor is taking the rest of our candy for the Ronald McDonald house.

I had a great weekend in Pittsburgh. It was the first time in a long time I was away without my girls. I missed them like crazy, but it was nice to just hang out with my parents (and run a trail race with my sister).

Morning!!

Totally exhausted, had a nonstop weekend.

Yesterday was fun though, first time little man has gone trick or treating. We literally had to wrestle him into his costume and he cried and screamed! Luckily my neighbor came over with her kids so her little guy grabbed A's had and ran with him and then the 2 walked hand in hand to each house for a bit till they both warmed up to it all. So cute! We had a fun night, talked to a lot of neighbors we don't usually see, met a few new ones, kids had a blast. Funny thing is for the first time in a while, I had the opposite experience Bob did. Lots of really creative costumes, kids were super polite, even shy when we offered the bowl to them and told them to take a few. Great night all around! but we have a zillion pieces of candy left and cupcakes that i made for the kids to decorate (and they were all too beat to do it) and then my neighbor dropped off 2 plates of homemade goodies she made as well.

Oh and another neighbor told us a local dentist has a trade in policy, bring your candy in, he weighs it and pays you a certain amount per weight and then he sends the candy to the troops overseas! So we are going to keep a little bit of A's candy and take the rest over there.

KJ doubt you are home yet but can't wait to see pics of the little man! Hope you are all doing well!

Thx for the birthday wishes. Had fun with Halloween yesterday. Went trick-or-treating with the kids for a while until my foot got sore. Most walking since the surgery, plus the cold (which I think the cold was the primary reason). Will post some pics of the kids costumes later. We had Gingy (the gingerbread man from Shrek), the travelocity gnome, and the black eyed peas (my DD, who was going to be a Greek goddess, and actually had the costume for that, wore it to a party on Saturday, then decided on Sunday to do something different. Gave herself a black eye with makeup, and covered a tshirt with a whole bunch of Ps. The letter.) All home made costumes, and they looked great.

Last day of working from home. There are three bags of Halloween treats behind me calling my name. Gonna be a long day.

morning peeps!

I waaaaaaaay over bought candy. I live just 2 blocks from my old house, but I get 75% less kids (I got more last year, but I think it's because I decorated my porch.) I have bags of candy left, I brought some into work, put some in my cupboard and more in my freezer, but now that Lori's mentioned it, I'll send some to my BiL in Afghanistan.

I went to see my nie-phews last night, they looked so cute! Maddie was being a pill , but John was so excited to go trick or treating.

Here's me and my friend Brian (he was sort of the March Hare) at the party on Sat night, after the show.

You can't really see it, but I had a short bustle on my back, then black satin tap pants and black fishnet stockings and ballet flats with ribbons tied around my ankles. And a parasol.

Morning all! Jason and I had a great time up in CT yesterday, helping take his 3 nephews and niece around their neighborhood for the kid's first "real" trick or treating experience. They've lived in a high rise apt in Manhattan until this year and it's quite a different scene in the suburbs. They really brought it home candy-wise too, momma! One cute old couple was giving out king sized Snickers and full sized KitKats, it blew the kiddos minds!

How do I get a cd out of my laptop? (It's a MacBook Pro.) It doesn't show up on the desktop, but I know it's in there. I already tried using disk utilities... it shows up but ejecting is not an option. And I tried shutting down & starting it holding down the mouse button and it's not coming out. :snarl:

Trick or Treaters - Most of the kids this year were very polite. And most were young. Or maybe we just ran out of candy before the sulky entitled non-costume wearing teenagers came out. I don't get the kids with 2 bags demanding another piece of candy for some sister/brother/aunt(?!?) who wasn't able to come out. Seriously?

We had a lot of parents dress up in costumes that coordinate with their kid's. My favorite one of those was a dad dressed as a scare crow pulling a little girl (3 or 4 y/o?) dressed as Dorothy, complete with ruby shoes, in a wagon. Both home made costumes, and they were great.

My favorites over all were 2 toddlers dressed as dragons.

Get a paper clip, and straighten it. If you look at the front of the CD tray, there should be a tiny hole near the button. Stick the pin in the hole to pop it out.

my friends husband makes older kids with out costumes sing a song for candy. Sometimes they do it and sometimes they get cranky and tell him to forget it. Eric just tells them if they are to old for a costume they are to old for candy.
