Just wanted to say I enjoyed the chat last night!

Morning all. 50 mile bike ride 50% of which was in the rain. Temps were ok so rain not so bad. The only problem seemed that the rain was causing the oils and road grime to come up and my eyes were stinging horribly. When the roads were just wet and no rain they were ok. Go figure.

Will run this afternoon after a lunch and some rest 6-8 miles.

Good morning gang. I have a football game to watch at noon thirty, so I'll do my running late afternoon. Another lovely day here in paradise.

Road hawk.....I use mIRC and here are the steps I use to find the chatroom. When I start the mIRC program, I get the usual popup window to register the program or continue. Just hit continue. After the trial period of the program ends, you might have to wait a few seconds for the continue button to become functional, but it eventually does. The next window to appear is "mIRC options." It looks like a typical login page on the right, with your user name and email. On the left side is an option menu. Under "connect" on the option menu, choose "server." Once you have "server" highlighted, just click on "connect to server" on the right side of the page. That should automatically connect you to the server, and then you just need to get to the chatroom. A popup window should appear called "mIRC favorites." It has a list of rooms, the names of which are all preceeded by pound signs. In the type box at the top, just type in coolrunning, and then hit "join." You should then be in the #coolrunning room and it will say "the topic is boomers and beyond." If anybody else is present, their handle will be listed on the right side of the window. The type box is at the bottom. Pretty standard setup. Some people have different handles than the ones they use for kickrunners, so dont be alarmed if you see names you don't recognize.

Hally......you are really working backwards on this project. First you go out and find a good deal on a nice bike rack. Then you find a car that the rack fits properly on.

Sierra....you chatted with some of "these" people and you are still here? Odd. Glad you are sticking.

Nice outing ks.....you're a machine.

tomwhite......before beat the post game traffic. Hope she's doing fabulously.

Hello again. I ran 8.1 this morning but it wasn't pretty. I didn't sleep worth a darn last night so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

Hally, how's the car shopping going?

I stopped by chat for a bit last night and enjoyed seeing everyone. Then I watched the movie "Fracture" with Anthony Hopkins who always scares the bejesus out of me.

Hi, gang. I'm also among the few who don't know how to chat. I'll have to actually try it, since PJ posted some really good instructions.

Hally, good luck on the car search. I love new cars...I hate buying them.

KS, you are a machine! I'm glad that you seem to be one of the few who is uninjured right now...try to keep it that way, 'kay?

I ran a short cross country race this morning. Take a look at the sticky above for the link to my report. My whole family had fun. The kids had a very nice playground to play on the entire time DH and I were running.

I expect there will be more race reports later. I hope Johnny, Rinda and Tammy are doing great. And Perch seems poised for a great marathon today. <<fingers crossed for all of you >>

JJJ, I hear you on the not-running-getting-old-thing. So I tried to beat up the rowing machine at the gym today instead.

Hey, it's a hefty workout. Still trying to figure out the display, but I did row over 11k; somewhere around 45 minutes. Sweat city and sore bottom (that seat needs some padding!) but at the finish, happy happy quivering old bod. Learning all kinds of things I can do -- and enjoy -- during this down time.

Bonus: Good ab workout, that rowing.

Did an additional 50 airplane touches on the Bosu, 50 side-to-side medicine ball bounces on Bosu, 45-sec. hand-on-medicine ball planks (both sides), 1-minute each foot single leg on medicine ball front planks, 11 chin-ups.

Frustration from not running can be pummelled into dust with a hard w/o. I'm going out to the yard now to chase leaves.

Enjoyed the chat too. Sorry for the abrupt departure.

Sounds like some great runs and work outs today. But yeah, being on DL sucks!

I did manage to put in a bit of time on the elliptical today, 'bout time!

Hiya Kicksters/CoolRunners/Boomers/Masters

In an effort to get a little more accountability into my training, I'm hoping to try to post here in the daily on an as regular as possible basis. I know most everyone from the B&B board, but for those whom I haven't met .... hello I work with the wonderful Princess Hally as the erstwhile moderator over at CoolRunning (where I do far more reading than posting)

To catch up, I'm in week two of my 18 week buildup for the Napa Valley Marathon. I'm drinking at least a gallon of Cabernet/week, hoping to work my way up
Today I ran 16 with the last 3 at my ballpark marathon pace. It was tough at the end, but with Mrs hup there with me on her bike I was able to make it in. Tomorrow Mrs hup will be running a half M in our neighboring town of Fresno. I'll be her "crew". Weather was wonderful today, but we're looking at a chance of showers Sunday

Finally, is there anyone here who is doing the IRC on a Mac? I've downloaded a Mac IRC client, but am not sure which server I need to log on to. Any input?

Thank you for your indulgence, I hope to contribute to the board.

Hello, I'm mirc & chat challenged. Hi there Hup, impressive marathon training (a gallon a week is good) & hi sierra, I hope you're able to cross train some while the knee (I think it's the knee) heals.

2 easy runs this morning with 8 minutes of walking in between.
2.26 @ 8:59 pace & 3.27 @ 10:50 pace, so that's 5 1/2 miles for the day.
Tomorrow I'm going to go into town and do 14 miles, free, going whichever direction I want, thanks to Mr. Garmin. I think I'll make my way to the pedestrian bridge over the river and see what' shakin on the other side.

Marie I already read your report and forgot to say, that first picture of you is excellent. You should frame that.

Am still pouting that I somehow missed out on the chat session. Hup, I use Chatzilla on Windows and Colloquy on my Mac.

Pie's instructions are excellent, but I would like to emphasize that the server you must connect to is: chat.oncomputers.info. mirc, by default, does not know about this server, and will try to connect you to one of the common ones. You must also connect to port 7000.

10 splendilicious miles in alternating sun/rain/both, with a few strides and hills tossed in for good measure. A gorgeous autumn day to be out playing on the seashore.

I ran a little over 6 at an easy pace on a crisp autumn eve. Ahhh.
Hally, good luck car shopping. Nice long bike ride, ksrunr.

I got some painting done earlier today, trying to squeeze every last minute out of these nice weather days. The temperature was marginal and the paint was getting pretty thick by the time I finished. Oh, the cat ended up with one white ear, too, trying to sneak out the back door.
