UG. Crap night of sleep again. I'm going to try not to take a nap today (I did yesterday morning, which I think contributed to last night's lack, among other things), and just go to bed early tonight.

It's going to take me a minute to think of fun for today.

Good Morning, My Pretties,

(((Katholeenie))) Hope tonight brings you some extra zzzz's to make up for the ones you've lost over the last few nights.

Fun: I'm having a whole whack of people over tomorrow evening. One might even call it a party...

I haven't had a party at my house in...oh... say....3years? I used to entertain all the time but since the split it just hasn't felt right to have people in my house. With the new house (MINE!), I feel like I won't be quite complete until I have a whole whack of people in it. So...

I'm having a party!!!!

so I've been on muscle relaxers for my back for a week. don't you think that they should relax all of your muscles? Why did I wake up in the middle of the night with a massive cramp in my leg and then again this morning where the muscle between my spine and shoulder blade ( trap muscle?) siezed up and knocked me to my knees.

Thanks for all the well wishes and good vibes last night, you guys. I talked to my dad this morning and my sister seems to be doing a bit better. She's still in the coma. Her sugar is still very high (26 when it should be between 4-6). They're working on getting that in check and doing more testing on her organs to see what, if any, damage has been done. I'm just glad she's being looked after well there.

I woke up this morning pissed off because I was having a dream that DH and I were in a big fight. Gotta love, that, eh? And didn't have time for my run so couldn't get my brain de-fuzzed. Tonight is the wine and cheese for my reunion. I was feeling up for it, but now I just feel like jumping in the car and driving to NB to see my sister and my dad.

*sigh*

Winter parties at a new pad that's all yours are always a great idea! Dessert...hmmmm...try the apple Skor dip. You take a package of cream cheese, blend it with sugar (I can't remember how much but I can find out for you if you're really interested). Blend it til it's really smooth. Then spread it on a plate. Spread caramel over that (the stuff you get for dipping apples in, you can find it in the produce section of most grocery stores, I figure). Not the stuff for caramel apples, but the soft dippable stuff. Then crush up 3 Skor bars and sprinkle that on top. Serve it with granny smith apple slices. Mmmmm.

WINTER! It's so good to see you, we've missed you. Happy Homeownership, by the way. What kind of party is it? Is it like a sit down and have dinner party? Or a wander around with a plate of snackey things and a drink and mingle?

BIG thunderstorms this morning. Totally threw off my plan for the day, which was to get up early and run 4 easy, get in to work at 7 til 9 (parking my car at my Mom's and walking in), walk back to my Mom's to get my car and go get DD for her 10 a.m. orthodontist appt., park at my Mom's to walk to the appointment to avoid downtown parking fees, walk back after the appointment, and then walk back up to work. Instead I'm going to take more PTO and just not go in until after the appointment is over. O well.

I gotta decide pretty quick if I'm going to run or not.

Clare: I like the idea of that caramel apple spread. Thanks!

BigG: It's more of a summer Bar-B-Que thing. Very casual. Potato salad and meat. O. and Beer. I've invited good friends from work. The operations centre that I work in is made up of ex-seamen, incident response specialists, technical geeks and engineers, who are all, for one reason or another, turning into bureaucrats. Some might perceive us as the uncouth. I love these people. We often socialize outside of work. By that, I mean drink. So casual is the way to go. I'm a little scared, actually. They might decide to let their hair down and then, my friends, we are all in a whole heap of trouble.

Ailarie: I loves me some key lime pie! But I'm shit at making pie crust. Really. No joke. I couldn't make a crust to save my life. How do you feel about peach cobbler?

I am so glad it's Friday. It hasn't been a difficult week (other than waking up way too early to drop Moonie off at the airport) but I am tired. I'm ready for a relaxing weekend.

((((Clare)))) It's hard when loved ones are ill and you are far away.

Winter- when my sister has a crowd over, she makes trifle. She buys a premade angel food cake, instant vanilla pudding, and fresh berries. She makes the pudding, cuts or tears the cake into bite size pieces, then layers everything like a parfait in a tall, clear bowl. Make it 2-3 hours ahead of time and the pudding soaks into the cake a bit and it's pretty yum for the summer bbq type event.

Please stop talking about yummy desserts! I'm S T A R V I N G !!!!

Speaking of yummy desserts, you know my vote is for THEIA BROWNIES!!!! I haven't made them in far too long. Maybe I'll make some on vacation next week.

Another crap night of sleep, despite the fact that GoV is here. (Usually I sleep really well when we're together.) I skipped dinner last night, too, so I'm really out of whack this morning.

My vote is for ice cream sammiches. Make some cookies, soften up some ice cream, assemble sammiches and freeze.

Morning!!!

Not fun: My lovely, newly renovated bathroom flooded last night (2nd time in a week actually but the first time was because my friend's shall we say spirited son plugged the sink and turned the water on full blast last Friday, I am now curious if he decided to flush something down the toilet as well!). So out washer drains into that bathroom and I was doing a load last night and pretty much the gallons of water from the washer backed up into the bathroom. Luckily my panic when I saw over an inch of water on the floor was short lived and I manged to grab every towel in the house and clean it up with no damage to the walls. Only additional problem is our shower also drains down the same line so water didn't drain out this morning when i showered. NICE!!! Hoping DH's uncle (who did the bathroom) can come over and find a simple solution.

Fun: We got our paperwork and officially own a Disney timeshare now, woot woot!!!

Winter I dig Kath's idea. You can also make brownies or go simplier and make cookiebars rather than cookies and have a little sundae making station.

Colleen glad your sister is getting better. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask!! I went through many ups and downs with my mom and even spent most of grad school in a diabetes research lab (actually had my thesis published in one of the top journals in that field!!) so if you need to vent, let me know! And have fun tonight, you deserve it!

Yeah, I just realized it was the 13th, though didn't think of the Friday the 13th connotation until Kath mentioned (overlooked it in Goon's post). The date caught my eye when working with a student because today is my parents' 44th wedding anniversary.

Chica, I'm from the south. Peach Cobbler is always a win-win. (or blackberry cobbler, for that matter). Even better, if ice cream is available. To keep someone from having to scoop it out on site, you can put scoops into cupcake/muffin paper cups, and then stuff a tray of cups in the freezer. Easy way for anyone to get a single serving, and the ice cream box doesn't stay out on a table.

morning peeps.

looking at another busy weekend. Tonight is my friend's birthday party, his girlfriend is sending him on a scavenger hunt, and I am the last clue to get him to the restaurant (he rescued me from a really boring cocktail party one time at this restaurant...just happened to be there and whisked me away to the bar, and that's his clue). Then karaoke, but I might skip that.

tomw I'm taking Miss P to a doggie day at the local farmer's market, where there will be a blessing of the pets. It's tax free weekend here, so I am finally going to buy a vacuum cleaner. Sat night, my friend's band is playing in Cambridge. Sun, I'm seeing a HS friend of mine who's in town.

phew!

I think I'd rather just go to Winter's party!

Winter, one thing about key lime pie is it usually has a graham cracker crust and those are pretty foolproof.

I like the ice cream sandwich idea myself!

I made this last night and it was so good!
