Yep 2 hour delay here. It's currently -20 regular temp, and I'm not even gonna look for the real feel because after -20 it just doesn't matter!

It's in the high 20s here. That's above zero. So I guess it's a heatwave compared to you folks. We got a few more inches of snow last night. And it made for a major NOT FUN this morning:

I woke up and went outside to shovel. Meanwhile, my wife went out to clean off our two cars. So she grabbed her keys and my keys. Well, my car is almost 10 years old, and the top portion of the key has long since broken off, so I can't hook the key to a keychain. In other words, the ignition key is loose by itself. I've never had a problem with it, but maybe you can see where this is going. Somewhere between the house and my car, my wife dropped the key without realizing it. In the snow. I started freaking out because that's my only ignition key. Once upon a time I had a spare, but it has long since been lost, probably before we moved to this house 2.5 years ago. So without that key, I can't start my car. And my car was blocking her car in the driveway, which meant neither of us could go anywhere until we found the key.

So we spent 45 minutes sifting thru the snow with a fine toothed comb before finally finding the key. And I was 45 minutes late to work. Well, not as though anybody cares. Or even noticed.

Oh well, TGIF...

Morning.

Too many back extensions yesterday + butt tape & arm stuff for the first time in a month = too achy to move parts.

It's cold here too. I don't know what the temp is, but Jack was limping from the ground being so cold. Poor thing.

just got an email from my friend Toons. The person in front of her at Starbux this morning paid for their own coffee and the coffee's of the 4 people behind them so Toons paid for the fifth car. Hopefully it goes on like that all day. It makes me happy that people think of others and make them smile on this bitterly cold day.

Eeks boB! I only have one key for my car and it sorta freaks me out.

STAY WARM PEEPS...yikes. We're supposed to be getting sub zero temps here this weekend, but nothing like that. More like -1.

2 hour delay for us and my boss emailed us and said she'd see us at 11 (we start at 9 normally), so I'm not leaving any earlier than I need to. It's pretty much a white out here and roads are apparently treacherous. I suppose I'll leave around 10 and just take local roads. At the moment, all I can hear is cars spinning their wheels trying to get out of their parking spots on the street. Def not fun.

Fun: I have BU/BC hockey tickets for tonight! for those of you who don't know, that's like [insert name of huge football team] vs [insert name of huge rival team]. These tix are incredibly hard to come by, they sell out the day they go on sale; through some weird circumstances, I was able to get 4. I'm taking The Guy (who is a HUGE hockey fan...Theia, you'll like him. ;) ) , and my friends from Australia, who have always wanted to go to a hockey game. This should prove to be a good one.

Hi all

Not fun: well, my computer may be on its last legs. It wouldn't even boot up yesterday, and I basically had to go in and start from the basics and reinstall the original OS. This morning, I found it still won't boot up properly, which makes me lean towards that it's something wrong with the hard drive. Guess what I'm doing tonight I have been meaning to get a second computer if the budget allowed for it, but now I may have to get a "first" computer instead by choice.

The sad thing is this computer is still useable, though I admit it has done a LOT of traveling in the three-plus years I've had it (that includes two overseas stints and several domestic hauls.) Hopefully I can get it at least to its original "factory condition" and then give it to one of my sibling's families who might need an extra computer.

Have a great time with the DD, BigG, and have fun with the guy Maureen!

Yikes boB - I'm glad you at least found it after all that searching.

Wippy - that story makes me smile

Stay warm you frozen peeps (I think you guys all sucked away this area's cold weather, because you can almost sport a pair of shorts right now) and good days to you all

Fun...it's friday!

I finished Lena's scarf last night. Well, I got to the last of the yarn and couldn't remember how to cast off to finish it. So I went to bed, figured I'd just take it to my mom today to get her to show me again how to do it. Then I woke up around 3 AM last night and remembered how it's done. I stayed in bed, though, and finished it this morning when I got up. Lena really likes it, so that's nice.

We're supposed to get some messy weather later. But not as messy as some other areas.

I think this will be a good weekend for sitting under a blankie with hot tea and knitting! I am bound and determined to make this button hat. I can do it! I'm sure of it. I think. Maybe.

More Fun: C picked me up from my Mom's and drove me to work - so a toasty ride and warm smootches. It's only about 1/2 mile for me to walk from my Mom's to the downtown shuttle and shuttle up to the SMH campus, and I had my bundling up stuff, but my face and legs would still have gotten cold. It's cold here, didja know that?

Random Acts of Kindness Rule!

Bob-that totally sucks. I would be freaking out! I just got a new car in November and the very first day I went out to the car, then to the mailbox and then back inside and couldn't find the key, its one of those $500 not a real key but a big keyfob type thing. Anyway, I looked everywhere outside and retraced my steps and could not find it. I was leaving that afternoon for DC so I figured I must have it somewhere inside and just can't see it. I grabbed the spare and left. We had horrible rain storms with 30 mile and hour winds that night. I totally forgot about the key. The next night DH calls and says "Why didn't you tell me you lost your key" and I was like, I figured it would show up...Well my Aunt found it in the grass when she came to watch Avery and lucky enough, when I got home it still worked, even after all the rain. Loosing it in the snow like you did would have totally sucked!

Avery has only had 2.5 days of school this week. I think they could have had a delay today. The plow was through at 4am and when I got up it wasn't snowing. We only got around 5 inches. Oh well, another day with a kid with cabin fever while I try and work....joy.

Well, things haven't really gotten better. This has been a hellish week at work already, and the shit really hit the fan today. There's this one design project I'm on where I've continually had to clean up the crap that some of the other team members have been throwing around. It hasn't been difficult, but it's been frustrating because I've had to do someone else's job in addition to my own. (I'm sure many of you in many different walks of life can relate to that). But today, there was a MAJOR bout of miscommunication among all the project team members, and as a result, we here in Engineering were designing the wrong thing entirely. Thank goodness I caught the discrepancy before we got too far into it. But it means the last couple days of work were completely wasted, and we wasted all day today up until now trying to figure out what happened. As a result, pretty much every single person on the team is partly to blame, including me. So overall, it was a HUGE screw-up where the entire process blew up. But I suppose if nothing else goood came from it, at least no one person is running around yelling at everyone else, since no one person is completely free of blame... Still, this might make for a late night tonight while I stick around and clean up my portion of the mess.

Yeah, it hasn't been a fun day. I'd better win the Mega Millions tonight. That's about the only thing that'll make today anything but a complete loss...

So, my new snow blower was supposed to get delivered today. And it is not, because of snow. #@*&. And our driveway is not plowed, and Mrs LH needs to get out (bringing DS into the city for a rehearsal). May be heading out with a shovel soon.

Uh, I missed this too. Happy Birthday, Kath!

Don't worry guys, I'm not completely freaking out. Yeah, today has been a frustrating day. But really, it could have been a lot worse. If we hadn't found that key, it would have been really bad. And here at work, yeah I uncovered a major screw-up by a lot of people. But I caught it while we were still in the design process, and it would've been much worse if we had actually manufactured bad parts.

So sure, today isn't exactly a banner day. But it could be worse...
