I feel like a cheater starting this thread as I rarely post here, but have to even things out because that's how I am. Can't stop at a 8.89 mileage, either, apparently...gotta be the whole 9.

I'll start with a joke in honor of you science types:

"Do you know any jokes about sodium?"

"Na"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Enjoy the day, all...the weekend is a comin' :)

/faints. Wow. I can't image a house without AC! (but I've lived in the south all my life, so having AC has always been a constant thing)

it's really only hot here for a couple months, and I live in a 100 yo house with radiators, not ducts/vents, so to have central AC is a major upgrade. Honestly, I doesn't bother me much, so I just deal. I had central AC in my last house and I kept turning it off and opening the windows if it was under 85* outside.

Hi all - definitely glad it's Friday; looking forward to sleeping in tonight.

Love those pics of Lena - looks like she's got a great runner's lean going there.

No A/C generally speaking at least for many older residential San Francisco units. Of course, for the most part Mother Nature provides it on a regular basis in the form of the fog. Head inland to any great degree (especially as you get closer to the Central Valley) and you'll need it for certain.

QOD - so many good choices here, it's hard to pick one or two at which to try our own hands. Actually, I wouldn't mind trying to use of the local fruit into something that would work out nice and tasty. With August coming near (and the Gravensteins coming into season) maybe I'd give an apple pie flavored batch (complete with caramel, cinnamon and even crust chunks) a chance.

Well, I didn't get any Elton John tickets. I was online in the "virtual" waiting room and the police came to take me to the mock jail. I had to raise $250 bail for the Atlantic Burn Camp in order to get out. That took me an hour. By then, the tickets were gone. Grrrrr. The good news, the money goes to a good cause. But I'm gonna kill the guy who set me up for that!

Great pics of Lena!!!

It's hot as ballz here and J & I are going to the Yankees game tonight w/a couple friends. Just how many beers does one need to drink to make 102* feel comfy?

QOD - I LOVE Jeni's and Bi-Rite!! I'm a big fan of salted caramel and lavendar flavors, I'd probably try something with an herb, maybe something made with rosemary

boB - how is mom feeling?

Probably enough so that you don't really care who is winning the game!!

Oh yes! How could we have forgotten this so far today?

hee hee! I'm stoked just watching that!

QOD: Guinness Milk Chocolate remains my favorite flavor that I've made so far. Pina Colada sounds YUM, as do the lavender and salted caramel. I'd like to try a green tea or mango flavor. oooo, maybe mango green tea together! And I've found that I don't like the quick no-cook versions. yeah, they're faster but there's no point if I don't like the result.

Lerrrrrv the Lena pics!!

Next time you're out this way Maria you should give Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous a try if you're in the Dogpatch area of SF. Really nice vibe and more stuff than just ice cream (I didn't sample it last time, but I heard their peanut brittle is super good)

FUN: the ice cream sandwich truck is outside our building! My friend and I split one with dulce de leche cookies and java crunch ice cream. :)

Rosemary Honey Ice Cream - this just topped my list of what ice cream to make next.

Maria - it is not just how many beers, but how fast you drink them - I would say you have 10 minutes, 15 tops before it is too warm to be palatable.

How is Momma boB doing?

I thought I was working late today, which would not be too bad (no AC at home, just window units in the bedroom), but the reason for being late was cancelled. Oh well.

What about a gin and tonic ice cream..... Hmmmmmmm..............

Hmm - just reminded of a conversation in NYC

DD - Do we like the Yankees?

Me - No.

DD - Do we know anybody that likes the Yankees?

ME - Honestly, no. People don't like the Yankees. People LOVE the Yankees or HATE the Yankees. Those are the only choices.

Luckily she got distracted by something else before I had to elaborate:)

Or how about this decadent thing

Coffee Oreo Golden Rum Ice Cream

great pics of Lena!

the trip up to Sault St. Marie was fun...spent a good 30 minutes in the Soo Locks visitor center and watching a boat go through. Didn't make it to Canada - didn't feel the 40+ minute wait to re-enter the US was worth it.

AC discussion: unless I'm living in a place with little to no humidity and average summer temps in the low 80s (e.g. the pacific northwest) AC is not optional.

Ailarie - due to my revulsion of all things reptile and near-phobia of snakes I would handle that situation well. At. All.

QOD: Black cherry ice cream is like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to me; always a sure thing that I can come back to after I've tried all the others.

A/C: Not in our old house. Yes in our new house. I doubt we'll ever turn it on.

We sold our house today! Well, sale pending, but it's a cash sale so we may be done in just a short couple of weeks. I'm stoked! :D We got enough of our asking price that we felt it was smart to take the sure thing.

Thanks for asking. I spoke with her this afternoon... She's doing fine. The surgery went well, and the doc says everything is exactly as expected so far. We'll be heading to CT tonight, as soon as DW comes home from work. It'll be too late for visiting hours today, but we'll see her tomorrow...
