I feel like a cheater starting this thread as I rarely post here, but have to even things out because that's how I am. Can't stop at a 8.89 mileage, either, apparently...gotta be the whole 9.

I'll start with a joke in honor of you science types:

"Do you know any jokes about sodium?"

Cranie, I lublub ya, but don't quit your day job!

Not fun: I had some WEIRD and somewhat unsettling dreams from 4-6 this morning. Woke up with a sore spot on my lip where I'd apparently chomped it in my sleep. Doh

Not fun: Last night, my next door neighbor called to give me a warning. He'd just killed a baby eastern diamondback rattler in his driveway. It was very young... only a few days old probably, but they're usually born in groups of 12-24, so chances are that more are around. Aaack. Snakes in general, I like. Snakes that can kill me or my puppies... those need to go. Needless to say, I walked the perimeter area of the back yard this morning while out with the dogs, and when I get home this evening, I"ll be dragging a shovel out of the storage shed, just in case. Where the dogs and I usually would be in the yard isn't really the most logical place for a snake to hang out (no real cover from other predators or chance for a meal, which for them is mostly squirrels, mice and rabbits), but still.. baby snakes aren't the most logical of creatures, so I'll be on guard for a bit.

Ooooh snakes, that would have me quite freaked out. Be careful!

So the humidity finally broke. Last night, it was 80-some degrees, but felt cooler than it has all week. Yay! I was wicked tired last night though and went to bed at 8:15. Really. I didn't really zonk out until after 10 b/c DS #2 kept coming in to say good night to me (he's not used to me going to be first). I didn't mind at all though - he was so sweet. Then I slept until 7:00 am! WOOT!!

Regular work day for me, then gear up for my races this weekend!! :)

I could have slept longer too, but that's been the case all week.

I am planning to get an ice cream maker here in the next few weeks. Moonie and I like Jeni's Ice Creams, Humphrey Slocumbe, Bi-Rite, etc, which all feature unusual flavors. So, here is a QOD: if you were to make ice cream/sorbet/frozen yogurt at home in a flavor (or flavor combo) you don't normally find in a carton at the store, what would you make?

I still have to think on my answer. I found a recipe for Pina Colada ice cream recently which looks tasty.

Hooray, Friday! Lotsa meetings for this gal, but I should have time for a quick errand at lunch and still leave early for golf league. Although DH has mentioned bailing on golf league because of the heat. We'll see.

I just bought my first pair of American made jeans! I usually wear Old Navy but the quality has been going down in all of their clothing so I decided to buy jeans made in the US and see how they compare to what I usually wear.

QOD: the best flavor ice cream I've had lately (and I 1) eat a lot of ice cream and 2) pick unusual flavors, like cucumber, salted caramel, creme fraiche and "El diablo" which is mexican chocolate with cayenne pepper) was pop corn ice cream. OMG.

I asked how they make it and was told, they soak cocoa covered caramel corn in the liquid ingredients, then puree that, and sieve out the solids. They make the ice cream from the remaining liquid. And it's served with a sprinkling of crushed caramel corn on top.

Qod: hrm.. I'm rather a traditional girl when it comes to ice cream. Give me strawberry, chocolate or vanilla, and I'm happy. I don't think I've ever seen a blackberry ice cream (at least not in grocery stores), so that would be pretty cool. I'll leave the odd flavors to you more adventurous folks!

Kath - I'm snickering now. Does KP have a serious dislike for things in the reptile family? :) On that note, I'm debating on whether I should invest in snake-away (moth ball type repellent) or another brand (more citrus / cinnamon repellent), or just go on business as usual. After all, a rattler had to be somewhat nearby all this time to lay eggs in the first place. The snake-away seems to work from reviews I've seen, but (1) it smells horrible for a few days, and (2) most likely needs to be reapplied after major rainfall, which is happening a lot in fast storms that come in the evenings around here, and snake-away isn't exactly cheap for the amount of yard I'd want to cover! Hmph!

hehe...um, my apartment has no AC at all, exc one window unit that I put in the spare room, on the idea that a houseguest might want it and if it were really hot, I could just sleep back there. But I have a temp roommate right now, so he's got the AC and I have no option.

I've contemplated getting a portable unit, so I could roll it around and use it in the rooms where I felt I needed it most but I haven't bothered to spend the money.

Mom has a snake that lives in her Christmas tree box in the barn. She named him Russell. (Get it? Rustle?)

Not fun: The Elton John tickets went on sale this morning and I've been in the virtual waiting room for an hour now! Gah! Apparently the server is having issues with all the people trying to get tickets. You'd think they'd have that sort of thing figured out.

Not fun: My knee is still very sore. It's just below the kneecap, not the kneecap itself. Bruised and I realized I can't kneel on it because the pain is too sharp. Youch.

Fun: Check out the pics from Lena's first race!

QOD: My favorite flavor, of all the ones I've made so far, has been peanut butter. It might not be terribly unusual, but it's not chocolate, vanilla or strawberry. Lately, I've been thinking about looking up a recipe for some sort of banana flavor ice cream...
