Hi all--

9 yesterday and it went OK...i was actually pretty tired and my legs were slow. Easy 3 today then 13 manana. I act like I'm training for something more than a 10 miler or half...what can I say? I like to run. :)

Take it easy all you hotties...weekend racing folks???

Greetings, all,

5M for me yesterday. Today is a day off for the legs, but I'll be getting upper body weight training + core stuff done. Then it's another 5 tomorrow and hopefully another 12 on Sun.

Hope everyone stays hydrated and safe out there.

Weekend stuffs: RiL has the Tough Mudder event, I know. Woohoo!

Good luck, RIL! And anyone else racing.

I may wuss out and run indoors tonight. I'm not sure I want to run in 100+ temps two days in a row...

Tomorrow could be ugly, though. I won't be doing a long run indoors (especially since I'll be at my parents' house, and they don't have a TM). So I might need to get up really early if I want to get a decent long run in before it gets too hot...

Yesterday was a slow day on these threads, eh? Was it too hot for anybody to post?

Morning ladies! Yay - the humidity is gone. Or at least less. Which is huge. It has been so oppresive and hideous here. It will still be really hot this weekend, but hopefully I won't feel like I am breathing through a puddle.

Anyway, it was 69 degrees when I woke up (AT SEVEN AM!) and storming. Rest day for me. Tomorrow we get up early to head to Devil's Head for Tough Mudder. If you haven't been able to tell the last coupla days, I am sofa king excited for this race. Woot!

Then Sunday is Capitol Mile! And yes, I am doing it. I will no doubt be slow, gimpy and hurting, but I have done it every year for the last 6 years (5 of them with my boys) and I am not going to wimp out this year. I am most excited to see how DS #1 does. He is a fast little thing these days and I wouldn't be surprised if he smashes my mile PR if he doesn't go out too fast and manages the hill. There is a big, long (for the mile) uphill just after the halfway point. If you don't blow it before the top, there is a nice, fast downhill then flat to the finish. GogogogogogogogogogO J-man!!!

Hey - check this out. I just saw it on TM's Facebook status. I'm not sure what the "Facebook status anklets" are all about, but it sounds pretty awesome to me and I will grab one if I can. Check FB tomorrow morning if you want to see what status of pain and suffering I am in! :)

GO DO IT, Clare!! I have 3 to put in any time here, so if you do, I will. I have 13 to do tomorrow. Hmm.

Good luck this weekend, Runnin'--that looks tough. I have no arm strength so those would be a lesson in embarrassment for me...i'm awed by how people do events like this !

I think RFTL has a 10k this weekend, too?

Hey, we got into TCM 10 Miler!!! I think it is our awesome team name: "Big Girl Panties"--which means "stop whining about things, put on your BGP's and run..." it came from runs with one of my friends where we'd be whining about life things and if either of us got too locked in self pity, the response was, "well, it's time to put on your big girl panties and deal with _______. Now, let's run another mile and figure this out..."

:)

Now we need appropriate garb for the team name--ideas?? And no, neither of us will run in panties. :) heh.

RiL - HAhahaha... I look forward to those message tomorrow!

Clarebear - GO! (just be careful in the heat, of course)

My Nuun tablets came yesterday, and I'm likely overly-happy about receiving them. I'll probably give a tablet a trial run tomorrow on my 5M before using it in the LR. Anything to help me avoid that damned dehydration headache that I've gotten for the past two weeks after LR's is good stoof in my book!

So, your team is named "big girl panties" but you don't have enough $%*( to wear panties ?

Yup BGP's sans only P's. we found some cute frilly type running-skirts that kinda look like ruffly panties or a skirty thing with funky compression shorts under and are making t shirts??

I got back, lady so that limits the options... we discussed this before we registered about how that would work but am open to ideas. :)

I was going to run on my lunch hour...and then I got nabbed for the mock jail! I had to raise $250 in bail in order to get out and it took me my whole lunch hour to do it! I'll take the girls in the stroller later, I guess. Thanks for the push, you guys!

Afternoon all! I got up early and tried the best I could to remain positive about this suck-ass weather but damn, it was ugly. 95* real feel at 5:30 a.m. = 6.5 sloggy messy miles. I was absolutely drenched and went straight into the shower, fully clothed!

Good luck Mindi & family, Alexis and Cindi!!!

I hear you Maria - that weather is awful. Now you know what we midwesterners have been suffering through all week. Hopefully it doesn't hang over the east coast long.

GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO THEIA! I didn't realize you had a big race this weekend - go get 'em!

Clare - that is a drag. I totally get the charity thing, but I've often thought how inconsiderate it must be to do that to people. Most people can't afford to just get hauled off like that until they can get their friends/family to give them a bunch of cash. I hope you at least had fun!

Go Cindi! Can't wait to hear how the 10K goes. Do you have a goal set?

Hi all - taking it easy in my return to running: 3/4 mi of warmup on my minimalist shoes (longest to date in the last couple weeks) to a routine I found online to help with my hip range of motion. I kinda' finally came to the conclusion that there's no huge need to return to double-digit runs, at least in the near future, and I might as well try to enter the new cycle as well prepared as possible.

Good luck to all you racers (Theia, Cindi & Mindi and the fam) and happy fitnessing to all

Luck to anyone racing this weekend...hell, luck to anyone trying to run in the oven this weekend!

had a great 5 miler yesterday up north and a great 7 miler this morning - this morning intended to do 5x3 minutes hard and after the fifth one I decided to through in a sixth one to help prepare for next week (6x4 minutes). Hit the paces I wanted on each of them. And I got the run finished before the sky opened up.
