Good going, Road Hawk! Have a wonderful time camping. I myself enjoy hiking a lot but I hate camping out -- it's too much like work for me.

Today I didn't run (it's an scheduled rest day) so instead I used the rower underhand for 20 mins and did 10 mins on the elliptical thingy, then crunches & stretches. I had to keep it short today b/c I'm heading into NYC for a luncheon with a publisher & I had to blow-dry my hair into some sort of a "style", as opposed to the "wet hair all around my face in knots" sort of way that I usually wear it.

Tomorrow it'll be another 30 minute run and possibly a yoga class.

Have a great day, everyone!

I love camping! And I am blessed to live near so many good destinations.

Nice hill run there, ksrunr. I'd love to run hills at that pace.

I would {{tomwhite's hip}} but I don't know how he would feel about that.

I would camp, if someone else did all the setup Cold showers don't really do it for me either. If there was a close by lake that was warm enough........
Other then that the roughest I would do on my own would be an RV

I think I will take off today, but load bike in car and go get the clipless pedals put on and have LBS lady train me. Also getting a computer, a mirror for my glasses and going to splurge for this pair of glasses with interchangeable lenses she had last week if they are still there. Not that the bike and stuff wasn't already a splurge
And then it's going to rain tomorrow morning but at least I will be ready for Sunday.

Hey Pro - what's your long run schedule left look like? And how do you finish your long runs so fast

Enjoy your day!

Have good time Road Hawk, sounds fun.
Speaking of hawks;
I was out on the mountain in an open field yesterday checking out a spring along the AT.
The weeds were kinda tall along the trial, but I popped around a corner to a small clearing and WHOOOSH. A large red tail hawk standing on the ground about 6' away flew up practically in my face. We were both a little startled. He left half a small rabbit behind.
Oh yeah, today's a rest day.

RoadHawk, I love camping! This is the perfect weather for it - have a great time this weekend.

{{tomwhite's hip}} I hope it's nothing serious - do you think it was caused by the garage running? (It seems that would require a lot of tight curves).

Hally, I got a new bike a couple years ago. It's nothing real special, and I mostly just use it for recreational riding with my family. But I can't let myself go to the bike store because I just love all the bicycling accessories! I could spend tons of money there. Have fun with the clipless pedals. (My husband fell off his bike the first day he had his . I hear everyone does).

No running today. I'm saving myself for my first 4-miler post-injury, tomorrow morning.

Happy Friday. (Sorry for the dissertation).

Hally my fren. Remember the post on CR of my other fren who met is demise on the bicycle? He always wore a mirror on his helmet or glasses and it probably saved him many times. However, many of us feel it blocked his view of the truck he hit due to the angles of the road. Please be cautious with your mirrors.

just flying by real quick as I'm getting ready to leave town shortly. I got in an 11.2 mile run today in an unbelievably slow time of 1:55:17. I took a few walk breaks in there with one of them being a whopping 5 min! Those walk breaks sure go by fast! Legs felt pretty strong the whole time though - hips were a little tight by about mile 9 or so - but the hills at that point might have had something to do with it.

have a good weekend everyone!

Let me know how you like the mirror that attaches to your glasses. I could never get comfortable with those, partly because you have to hold your head "just so" to use it, partly because I can't focus on something that close anymore, and they're also so easy to knock out of adjustment. It took about four tries, but I now have good mirror solutions for both my comfort bike and my road bike (with drop bars).

5.5 peppy miles today.
Can't wait for my long run on Sunday!

I love camping. I love my new sleeping bag & tent. I love the little teeny LED flashlight, too. Papa Econo gave me his old army mess kit this week, hooray! Camping is fun and so is the gear.

Ok Weird Craig - The long speedy runs were easy ? All my runs seem difficult these days . . . maybe during taper I will be reenergized and maybe the cooler weather will help - wishful thinking. Why am I doing this anyways - wait - I can't ask that - I only have one more 20 something left to do so best not to think. And you best not be bringing the rain or I'll have to do another 20 miler and find another race!

I love the gear, too. My favorite camping implement is my Dutch oven. I really enjoy cooking in it when we're camping.

So do you have a destination/date in mind for using Papa Econo's Army mess kit? Do tell...
