Me...

15- mile combined speed/long run early this morning in the rain in 1:41:50 (5 minutes faster than similar workout last week but about what I was doing last year at this time). Did the iPod Shuffle Workout, one or two songs on for pick-ups with one or less songs off for recovery jog. Tried to keep pace decent on recovery. Went like this:

o 4:48 / 4:02

o 4:41 / 4:35

o 5:03 / 2:33

o 7:27 / 2:54

o 6:05 / 2:50

o 7:07 / 1:45

o 5:23 / 2:31

o 6:48 / 2:35

o 9:01

Sorry to be so redundant, but great run Thor!

Me:

AM: 5:30AM swim, 3,500m straight. I was so tired and out of it. I only had about 5.5 hours of sleep last night due to storms, kids, etc. I had a few laps were I felt awesome and a lot of laps where I felt like I was just learning to swim. One think I do know is that I need to get more sleep at night.

PM: Noon time run, 1.25 hours, at the hour mark, 10 minutes in Z4. It is looking really nice outside, should be a good afternoon for a run.

Have a phenomenal day everyone!

Thanks, Miles!

And hey, I love love love reading your workouts and even the bits about "tired this morning but did it anyway," because it not only tells me that you're kicking ass and getting in all the good stuff but it also shows your commitment and being in, what I call, the Iron Training Zone of intense training. Keep it up and Arizona will be one big party at the end of this journey for you. Will be exciting to watch. Keep eye firmly planted on the prize.

Impressive run Thor! I like the iPod shuffle type run. I never would have thought of soemthing like that.

miles - Nice swim. One day I am hoping I can swim 3500m straight. I have never tried it yet.

Well the knee isn't happy with me. I slept with my knee brace last night and I felt much better this morning so I decided to go with my scheduled 18 mile run. The knee felt good through the first 10 miles or so and then it started to stiffen up. 17.5 mile run, first 11 miles at 8:15 - 8:20 pace and then I slowly began to pick it up a little. Ended up with an average pace of 7:59. Finished up with a 1/4 mile walk.

Happy training everyone.

Wow, some big runs going on today - nice job Thor and David!

Me - I bagged my run today as I have been achy/sore the last few runs...figured it was time for a break, so hit the pool instead.

1300 yds done, followed it up with some weight training. 40+ mile ride planned for tomorrow w/Dhubby.

Enjoy!

These double digits runs make my 1.5mi stroll through the neighborhood seem a littlle...um, short. Seriously good work guys.

Spending the afternoon working a conference. Not my ideal Friday (dressed in a suit and heels, blah), BUT the bright side is that people are going out of their way to be pleasant to me today...they must know that they are on thin ice! lol

Happy Friday all!

Unplanned rest day. Life got in the way. Dropped son4 at home school co-op and took son1 to campus. Tuition $1050. Books $250. That was for two books. Books for the third class is back ordered. Still need to drop another $200...

Last tri of the season is Sunday. Tomorrow son1 head to the race venue to cheer on a friend doing her first tri, a woman's only super sprint. Later in the morning we'll work the kids race, then in the afternoon the elite race. Should be a fun weekend!

Way to go Thor & miles to get the long run in before the weekend! I don't even remember the last time I ran double digit... no wonder my run is suffering.

5 miles some 2min & 1min fast pace + 1mile tempo all mixed in. The legs are coming back but not quite to my liking yet. I was able to squeeze 1hr ride last night while DD was dancing and it felt good with several times of a few minutes pickups.

Thor, I tell it like it is, sometimes it ain't pretty. Probably the best thing that ever happened to me was under training for the NYC Marathon back in 2002. I paid dearly that day and ever since I have vowed to stick to my workout plans pretty religiously. Of course, injuries and special circumstance can come into play, but leading up to that race I was bagging long runs and some other work out for no good reason. The last nine miles of that marathon was excrutiating and all I could think about was the many workouts I skipped out on.

Boyerdavea, up until last week I had never had a swim session longer than 3,000m. Two years ago I would have told you I was NEVER going to try to do an Ironman because of the swim alone. I am not a strong swimmer, but I will tell you that if you put in the time in the pool anyone can do it. Just like the time you spend running, it is all that same.

Yo Sake, I am not Thor, I didn't quite made double digits on the run today (9.35 miles in 1:16:00). I do have an hour and 45 minute run on Sunday though, that will proble be around 12 - 13 miles. You're still kicking butt in your training and racing though, so no worries.

As for my run at lunch, first 20 minutes were rough, tired and even a bit dizzy. Stopped for a minute, assessed how I was feeling, opted to try and push on. The last hour or so was much better, I was able to pick up the pace and throw in a 10 minute section at Z4 (6:58/mile pace). Very happy I pushed throught the rough patch!

Great workouts all.

@miles - get some sleep, its golden to get that sleep during this time in your training. In fact it may even be more beneficial than hitting the workout, just as a thought. Of course I'm someone who sleeps too little constantly

First workout since Sunday, 4.76 mile run, 9:07min pace. Nice day out. Happy Friday!

Well, I'm almost done with my peak week of training for my HIM. Next week is recovery, then I start tapering. I won't lie, I'm tired, but I'm feeling good!

Today, I ran 3 miles on the TM in zone 1 (9:40/mi). Then, I swam 1500m in OW. Half of that was my first time in my wetsuit. It was HOT because the water was 85 degrees, but I've got to swim in it a few times before the race. I figured I could handle 15 minutes. Now I know why everyone swims in wetsuits!!! Wow! I felt like I had a pull buoy but I could kick too! I was quite a bit faster, so I guess we'll see. Still getting used to the neck, but it wasn't bad.

My hardest workout will be tomorrow, mentally. It's a 5 hour ride, but I can't leave until around 11:30 because of soccer games, and I'll be riding alone. Maybe it will be a little cooler for me (doubt it). I'll just hope it stays in the lower 90s.

Awesome workouts everyone! Nothing for me - last day of recovery week and last day of antibiotics. Looking forward to a morning run tomorrow. So antsy after being a blob all week, have to remind myself to go easy. Part of a delimma is that there are new moms groups, storytime programs, etc that I want to do each week, but with a 3-month old, really one activity and a couple of errands is all we can do. Somehow have to fit in a workout and a nap too. Eli's got the 2-hour morning nap down, but we are still working on the afternoon one.

Rehearsal for my brother's wedding on Saturday. I'm a bridesmaid. I'll be wearing 3-4" heels. On grass. I am more nervous about this than I was about Pumpkinman!

Nice beer sampler (10 beers!) at Arcadia Brewing Company in downtown Battle Creek, MI. Plus one pint of ESB...my brother paid for it and, well, don't want to upset the groom or anything!

6 miles after work including 4 miles at HM pace. Struggled, struggled, struggled. Decided to jog in the last mile instead of pick up the pace to 10K. Legs were feeling too dead.
