I had to cancel my run yesterday. It started snowing early in the afternoon, snow that was supposed to quickly turn to rain and not amount to anything. Except it kept snowing and snowing harder and there was a couple of inches by about 4 PM. I decided it was best just to head straight home. The drive home took me 2.5 times longer than usual.

So I'm thinking that I might try doing a run after work. Then again tomorrow. Then Sunday. It might be my first 3 days in a row running effort.

I need to run today...not sure when though. I've been slacking. I'm walking tomw with my friend, so we'll probably do about 10.

Rest day for me, too. Did some core work and stretching this morning, though. That was the QOD yesterday? or recently? I am a stretching junkie. After every run, and usually throughout the day...

RFTL - did you find it more difficult to get out of bed this morning with the extra sleep time? I did. Weird.

Good Morning!

6 recovery miles today. It's going to feel nice, it has been a little bit of a tiring week.

It's going to be super windy for the 5k tomorrow, so that should be interesting! The second half I'll be running into a 15mph headwind--no negative splits this time. The women's race is separate from the men's, so I don't think there will be many to draft off of. At least we will all be in the same boat, even if times suffer. See me sandbagging?

Fort hose who are running today, have great runs!!!

Rest day for me today.
Will take Odin for a walk as it's supposed to be in the high 30's and clear when I get off of work - the dog needs some exercise.
Other than that, core stuff and that's it for today!

Slushy snow at home, so I got up early and shovelled for 45 minutes, then trekked into work. 7 miles on the TM. A little late to work, but the boss is off today

I'm not running today. Good thing since I have terrible shin splints today that I'll be nursing big time ... after I get home from the gym. Old running shoes really do do a number on your legs! My new ones arrived yesterday (thanks UPS) and the difference is amazing.

I've got 4 tomorrow and a race on Sunday.

Good luck to our other weekend racers: Jen, Tim, Myron ... ??? (who else)

Good morning. How's everyone doing?

Yesterday was my rest day. I ended up staying out really late drinking too much, so I called in sick this morning. I didn't really need to -- I'm not hungover at all. I was just dead tired still when I tried to get up. So I called in sick and went back to bed. Heh. I've got about six weeks of vacation/sick days stored up, so why the hell not...

Anyway, I'll do a few easy miles at some point today. Tomorrow is my longest run before tapering to Birmingham. I'm gonna try for about 22 tomorrow. Should be fun...

No shovelling here. There's some snow on the grass, but none on the pavement...

Happy Friday, folks!

Yep - pressed snooze for 1/2 an hour and didn't get out of bed til 6:05! My "internal alarm" did wake me up right at 4:30 though, but I closed my eyes and went back to sleep til the real alarm clock woke me up.

I'll do weights and a bit of cardio on my lunch hour. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for 12 miles on the TM tomorrow. I decided to take everyone's advice and skip the outdoor workout. I think what Voo said is correct - its just dangerous at those windchills. Sounds like its gonna be nasty here tomorrow.

Good luck racers - Jill, Jen, Tim, Myron and anyone else I'm forgetting.

Ditto. Well, I won't be able to walk Hank, but if I do anything it will be just a walk to score some lunch.

QOD- what are some good cross-training ideas that don't involve my legs? I mean, I have some hand weights and a video that works me through some exercises with them, but is there anything else? All my XT involves my legs (treadmill hill climbing, stationary bike, etc) and even the Yoga and Pilates have been working the legs. I need to give them a bit of a break once in awhile.

I've got a 5K tomorrow. It's the first Fantastic Frigid 5K of the year, a 2-race series organized by my running store. I'm the defending AG champion for the series. OK, so there was only one other woman age 30-39 who ran both races last year, but I was faster than she was, dangit!

The year before nobody in my AG ran both races. That was the only reason I went to the 2nd race last year, in single digit temps and negative degree windchills. It was worth it because I won $40 off a pair of shoes. I'm hoping for the same luck this year. It truly is luck when you consider my times, which are far from spectacular for a 5K. The faster of the 2 times was 32:58.
