Good morning. Woohoo, it's Friday!

It's another day of rest for me. Two in a row! It's been a long time since that's happened. The taper always drives me nuts.

As I mentioned yesterday, I have cleared the first two hurdles towards getting myself into the Mercedes and/or Eugene marathons. First, I got permission from the wife. And then I got permission from work to take long weekends both of those times. So now all that's left is to register for the races and get plane and hotel reservations. Some time this weekend I might as well get drunk and get all that over with.

Keep those Phantasy Philly picks coming in. I haven't added everything up yet, but there's one name that seems to be appearing on the majority of these picks. One person at least has a lot of fans around here...

Remember, Roo, the yogurt at the end is the motivation of the great runners. Bannister, Nurmi, Coe, Benoit-Samuelsson, Weitz, they all ran for yogurt at the finish.

Long range forecast for Philly marathon weather has temps down around 30 Saturday night, temps going up to about 45 on Sunday with sunshine. No signs of rain around that time period.

morning peeps

No run for me today. They're taking me out for drinks after work tonight. Since I'm leaving during the holiday week, we're going early.

We bought tix yesterday to see the stage production of White Christmas Friday after Thanksgiving! We cancelled our cruise plans in Jan and decided to spend a little of the money we got back on the tix. Should be fun!

This weekend we're going to see another play...these season's tix keep coming up on us! I've never seen so much theatre!

So, Heater picked out the Berkshire Brewing Co Coffeehouse Porter for me a couple weeks ago. I almost never drink at home, so it's been sitting in my fridge since then. A little nudge from one of my 30s buddies made me crack it open last night; it was terrific! Drank the whole BIG bottle by myself before DH even got home.

Hence the drunk posting last night.

Scratch...I hope your forecasts continue to look good!

Mandy, what time do you want us to show up? I'll bring guacamole!

Gotta scoot to work! I'm having lunch with my mentor today; I love my mentor!

Ciao!

screwy run...
saw 4 deer right out the box...2 humping. embarassed me, just made hank want to chase deer. gah. then a pack of wild elementary school bicycle gang kids... we stopped for a good 2/3 minutes to do training so he could chill out and remember when he's on the leash he's on it with ME.

then had to pass a guy with another dog. so he wanted to talk. 'hi, i'm Tom...i work for the city of newark." um, hi. no, i'm not telling you my name.

MOE yay. none of my friends (or mat) like guac. i LOOOOOVE it, but there isn't much point in making it just for me. i get home at 4. bring penny, please.

anyway, 2.25 in something like 30 minutes with stopping time....grf. always happens when i'm on board for 11 minute miles (i think i might be there now if I run by myself). Looking forward to the Jingle Run with Kris and my friend Detra.

Back from my 3 mile shakedown run... I think I've been watching too much Biggest Loser because in my head while running I kept hearing "Last Chance Workout" over and over... weird... but then again tapering has been known to mess with my mind.

I'm taking Jaeger to Doggy Daycare today since it's likely I won't excercise him enough this weekend... I think he's grown to like our 7 mile Sunday runs, and I doubt I'll be doing that this Sunday... even if I do I won't do them at the7:20's he likes...

Roo I'm going to half to hold off on happy hour tonight... and go to bed early... hope everyone has fun

morning!

GOOD LUCK TOMORROW, MYRON!
Mandaroo -- when's the Jingle Run?
Maria - took a trip to REI yesterday -- came home with the arm warmers (love these! thanks for the idea -- I'd seen them on the elites but never thought to find 'em for myself!) and a new pair of running shorts. Trying them both out today, just to see how they work
Bob - I hate the taper, too. I've been questioning EVERYTHING on my plan these days...

Speaking of which -- I'm heading out now for 5. or 4. I can't decide. Probably should be 4.

Back in a bit. Happy Friday, all!

I got three miles in late last night. The legs felt pretty heavy, but that could have a lot to do with overloading at supper. My wife is too good of a cook for my running.

Apparently I have to go back to read Moe's drunk posts.

Talk later.

Ok, now there are two threads.

No run for me today. My quads feel really tight this morning. Not sure why. Gonna try to stretch some, so I can be limber when I try to break an hour tomorrow in my 10K. Doesn't really seem possible, but I guess I'll find out.

Based on your 5K time, you should have a chance at it if you want to go after it. Your best bet at it would probably be to try to run 30 minutes in the first half, the first 5K and then hopefully your legs will still feel good to try to crank it up and run the last 5K with vim and vigor as they say.

Right. 30 minutes for a 5K should be easy breezy at this point and once I know I only have a few more miles left, my mind usually lets me go ahead and gut the rest out, but we shall see.

happy runs and workouts to you all. I've got 1 more cross train to do tonight or tomorrow. I might get it in tonight and then complete ohr tomorrow instead of Sunday. I don't have a ballgame to work tomorrow so I might get out and enjoy the run Saturday instead of trying to fit it in on a busy Sunday.
