Mailbox--nice try just slinking back in. What have you been up to? What are you tapering for?

chances--in case no one told you, you are supposed to keep the rubber side down. Works better that way.

Posting a goose egg for today. We were supposed to head to the gym for some splishing and splashing. I didn't hear son1 get up and far be it for me to disturb his much needed rest. So, I slept in. Still in deep cleaning mode, so heavy housework on tap for today. Not really calling it a rest day, just no workouts.

Planning on a short shake out run this morning to calm my nerves.

Closing on a refinance tonight. The great rate is now tempered by the fact that we just got royally shafted by FEMA. They decided to move us into a high risk flood zone so we now need expensive flood insurance. We went from no flood risk to high risk... my house hasn't moved. The only thing that has changed is that the village f'ed up water management after a slew of tear downs and resultant McMansions. Even so, we didn't flood in a 100 year flood back in 2008. I'll be taking out my anger in tomorrow's race.

Chances - Yeah, I'm calm. Honest, I'm calm. Well calm bordering on blind panic. Hope your road rash eases.

4boysmom - yeah, joking about kids on the roof. Enjoy the cross training cleaning...

Mailbox - sneaking in with your sneakers?

Morning and happy Friday.

Big racing weekend, although it will be bypassing me as I simply run long (18) tomorrow. I would have been running Chicago this weekend, had it not been for all that unplanned time off in July and August. But I'll be ready for the next thing.

Meanwhile good luck to RA as he romps through the Prairie!

Speaking of racing, this is also Army Ten Miler weekend here. I didn't sign up this year, because obviously I had Chi-town in my sights. But here's a story, my company is now headquartered in the UK (we were bought a couple of years ago). A bunch of folks from the British subsidiaries are coming over here for a big Army convention that starts on Monday. You see where this is going...if not, read on. Over there in the London suburbs, someone thought it would be a right swell idea put a team in for the Army Ten Miler, you know since they were coming over anyway. But they forgot to recruit any employees on these shores. There's two Yanks this office who would probably have been the team studs. And would certainly have run if somebody else was paying their entry fee. Oh well.

Chances - I've only had one biking spill. Went flying once last year when I skidded but was lucky enough to land on the grass alongside the path. I'm always amazed how those guys in the TdF finish races with a broken collarbone and the like. Those guys are tough all right. That said, good on you to get back in the saddle.

4bm - enjoy the rest if you can call it that...guess you can't.

MB - yeah, what are you tapering for? You put it out there, you know we're going to ask.

Even though my legs are sore, I had a decent run this morning. I put in 5 miles with mile 3 @ 7:23. It felt good.

Morning all. Maybe another rest day here... seeing I'm on baby duty till this afternoon, and I got some decent sized bucks on my trail camera, so thats where I'll prolly end up this evening. Maybe DD will let me knock down a few on the TM later. Not really felt much like running lately...

BTW- give me some money.https://waystohelp.stjude.org/sjVPortal/public/displayUserPage.do?programId=401&templateId=506&userId=649018&eventId=166948

Didn't figure I'd get away with quietly sneaking back in. I've been pretty busy adjusting the last few months while starting my PHD in Finance program at Kentucky. I've still been running, and overall it's been decent mileage (I hit 2,000 miles for the year this week) but nothing special or fast at all. I've also been unintentionally cultivating mass, so I don't expect much next Sunday- but I'm signed up for Columbus. Not much in the way of time goals for me- but I figure I should be able to go somewhere in the 3:30 range given my "training".

Asics- I'm assuming you're gearing up for Chicago- have a goal in mind?

Not Chicago, rather a small race tomorrow through one of the local forest preserves. It was a last minute change of plan from Grand Rapids, which is looking to be a bad move given the weather situation. Anyway, the goal is sub 3:05. Then I have 4 weeks of relaxation before I run the NYC marathon. That will not be a sub 3:05 attempt...

Good luck @ Columbus and with the PhD...

Mailbox--we are so gonna have to meet up!!! Not at the start as I'll have enough to worry about. Not at the finish as you'll be home and showered before I finish (3:50-3:59). When are you heading to registration? That's probably our best bet. I'll have friends out on the course. They just might have a sign out there for you.
