Kevin - hope you found a good spot for the friday five.

Loopy - feel better... for you 6 miles is a good taper for a 5k, look forward to seeing what you do

fuller--hope you picked a good route.

loopy--only 6?! I thought I felt a slight wobble in the earth's rotation!

z--non-running activities? There are such things?

BBS--enjoy the rest

Dan--we have a nasty cold going around. Knocks you flat for 24hrs, then hangs on forever.

Nothing yet for me. Decided to sleep in. I might get my long run in this afternoon so I don't have to get up stupid early to get my run in before work. I have to take son1 down to the marathon expo, so that might cut into run time. So who knows.

Super excited for my church's runners. THe churhc plant is still pretty small, about 60-70 people. We have at least four people running the marathon this weekend! I'm helping coordinate cheering along the route, although I think most of 'em will be at the church which is right on the course. Wish I could be with them, but I'm working the finish. Can't wait to catch them at the finish though!

loopy, I was going to ask you if you were running it this year or not. Which outfit will you be running in this year? I'll be there in the crowd with my camera, been working on my reporting and photography skills lately. Will be doing the same at the Women's 5k tomorrow morning.

Kevin, how did the run go?

Rest well and feel better vash, zrun, and BBS.

Enjoy your run 4bm.

I'll be heading out shortly for some recovery miles.

Dan- I did go North and East and South and West, but not all in that order.

Jill- The run went well, but with temps in the low 40's I felt like I overdressed this morning. Otherwise it was good.

I got out for 5.13 miles in 44:24(8:38).

Chances- Sorry for the odd numbers today. My son set a timer of 52 minutes so I could make him some pancakes when I got home. I was going to stop at 5, but wanted to see If I could get home before the timer went off. I think from all the lights I had to stop at I got back 2-3 minutes after the timer.

Have a great morning everyone.

Happy Friday all,

It's a cool, breezy day today, not too bad for running though it could drop a little rain on us, too. I don't have much planned for today, just an easy 5 or so with some striders at the end. Saving my powder for tomorrow's run, which is a real doozy. I will be starting tomorrow morning from our home in Fairfax, proceeding through Falls Church and Arlington, over the Memorial Bridge into DC, eventually finishing where DW will be playing her soccer match. Total distance = 22.4 miles. Oh boy...

loopy - good luck in that 5k tomorrow, after doing only 6 you should have plenty of juice for it.

kevin - nice job on the 5.13

zrun - nice 4, sounds like you're recovering pretty well

BBS - sometimes you just gotta get fired up for those long runs.

Dan - sorry that cold's beating you down. Hopefully you can beat it back tomorrow

4BM - good luck running whatever distance...

Jill - have a good recovery run. And BTW, even if I don't actually run Boston, I could still go there.

What a great afternoon run I had today. 6 easy recovery miles at 8:28/mile, HR 141. 4 x 30 second striders during the last mile pushed my HR up to 165-170, then a quarter mile jog later I was back down to 140. It just felt like a walk through the park today.

Hey guys! Nice workouts today. I did a chest and back workout today, but will skip the run. I have a half marathon tomorrow that I am half looking forward to and half dreading. It should be fun. Last year it was the location of a triumphant and unexpected PR. This year I'll be lucky to get withing 15 minutes of last year's time.

Nice workouts all. Nothing today due to a BS meeting first thing this morning. Plan on 8 or so tomorrow then back to the grind with 15 or so on Sunday. That's the plan today. It may change... it may not. It's so exciting.

I took son1 to the marathon expo this afternoon. Good to see some running peeps that I haven't seen in a long time. Also snagged some new shoes. Yet another pair of Adrenalines, but marked down to only $70. Yah, same old white with blue.

Finally got out for a trot after dinner. Kinda fun to get back to where it all started--after dinner, in the dark, in the neighborhood. Run felt pretty good, not too hard, just a comfortable pace. Ended up with a long 8 at 8:45pace. Last long run. Now, it's serious taper!
