So I was just checking to see if they've updated the participant list for Alcatraz and was amazed at the diversity.

20 pages of male participants (~50/page)
8 pages of females
Oldest female is 73 - I want to be this active when I'm that age
Youngest female is 10 - Holy smokes!
Quite a few International athletes - Ireland, UK, Colombia were only a few countries I saw
Only 4 pros so far - I imagine most of the pros will be at worlds or ramping up for the olympics

I was checking out the participant list for AG Nationals. It's a pretty short list so far, but it's really exciting to see the diversity, with names showing up from states all over the country. Feels almost like a completely different sport compared to the local race scene.

we have a local 2.5k OW swim that has participants from @ 8 yrs to 87yrs! Its a nice sport becuase you can have so much diversity and the upcoming inaugural olympic open water event is drawing many to the sport which is both good and bad. I've swum with youngsters trying for alcatraz, I wonder if any will be there (they should be in the 8-9 year old range).
