Good morning all!

Zrun - Nice trail run this morning.

Me - I decided that since is a cut back week, I would combined today run and tomorrows bike and make it a brick workout. Then I can take 2 days rest to get next week started right. I cut back the distance of the bike but kept the run the same. The goal was no longer than 2 hours. I made the adjustment to distance on the fly while riding. I had a great ride averaging 19.6 through 21 miles with an overall average of 19.3 as I slowed for the last mile or so prepping to make the transition. In to transition, taking off the jacket and gloves but leaving on the arm warmers and off I went for my 6 mile run, which came up a bit short. My goal here is to keep my pace slower than 8 m/m. I usually start way to fast off the bike. I did better this morning, 7:54, 8:02, 8:23 (hill), 8:06, 8:02, and 8:07 pace for last .9 miles.

zrun- glad you knocked it out on those trails

Had a great time last night at the pub run, not so much at work though. The Garmin ended up showing a total of 3.75 miles averaging 7:48 (but it was really faster than that if the timer would have got stopped when we had to wait on cars at crossings). Drank some Tecates at the first stop, no Mexican beer at the 2nd stop, so we went with Stella.

Rest day today. Maybe take the bike for a short spin.

Somehow I've made it to Friday yet again. Always a good thing.

It will be another light day of running for me...I'd love to hit the trails at Manassas Battlefield after work but the weather may have something to say about that. Thunderstorms are predicted for later even though it's gorgeous outside right now.

Tomorrow is the 5k race in my neighborhood, just 4 or 5 blocks from my house, but I doubt I'm doing it. Just not feeling up to racing again yet. I'll probably get on the bike for a long ride tomorrow instead. I won't be anywhere near as fast as Dave.

Enjoy the runs, rides, rests and whatever else this Friday calls for.

zrun - Happy birthday!

BBS - sounds like you are an expert hasher...

Hawk - enjoy the trails.

kfuller - rest up. Hope the cold is better. I'm stuck with a awe inspiring hacking cough.

dave - nice job on the brick laying. When I trained for the duathlon, I could only run fast off the bike after a light ride. A hard ride and I was toast for the first mile.

Another day, another groggy morning. Legs sore from those lunges. How can a few quick sets of lunges make my legs more sore than running 26.2 miles? Anyway, if the cards fall right, I may be able to get in 5-6 this afternoon. I'll attempt a 10 miler tomorrow as Sunday I'm single parenting while DW, SIL and MIL go do some Mother's Day spa stuff.

RA- My sister said that it took about 3 weeks to finally get over her cold 100%. I think the cold I have is hanging on with a death grip. I understand the hacking cough. Hopefully both of us can get better soon.

Had planned on sleeping in this morning however, I thought that I heard son2 say that the dog got out. I hurried to get up and dressed, only to find the dog tied and sitting quietly on the front porch. Well. crap! Since I was already up, I changed into running gear and headed out for a run. Super easy just to get the legs moving. Oh so not feeling fresh this morning. Easy 3.2m @9:15pace.

Last day for home school co-op, which is a good thing. Came home to find that my team uniform did not arrive in the mail. Major bummer as I won't have it for the tour this weekend. Kinda expected it though as it was sent snailmail on Wednesday.

I'll be AWOL until sometime on Sunday. Looks like a typical TOSRV weekend--headwinds both days. Pretty chilly, too. 50% POP.

5.6 easy miles near work, some of them roads in the office complex and some of them on the GMU trail. Decided to go early rather than wait til after work because it's nice out now, but t-storms are coming soon. Ran with my co-worker and neither of us really felt like stepping it up so we just jogged along at just barely below 9:00 pace.

I feel pretty good afterwards though. I think this week of doing nothing but recovery mileage is finally starting to pay off. I should be rarin' to get back into training next week.
