5 slooow recovery miles with Tory. Wow the humidity returned to the Cape, I was drenched! My glasses kept fogged the whole way! We're leaving tomorrow heading to VA then NC on Sunday. So I guess it's like going from the pot of water into the firy heat. I'ts been a great week here in MA. Sox-Sox double double header header today today.

I had such a great run this morning that I'm practically giddy! I did a whopping 30 minutes with no walking - it amounted to about 3 miles running. I came home with a grand total of 4.3 miles, due to the warmup and cooldown walking.

This is a big deal for me because it's the most straight running I've done since I hurt my hip at the end of April. I also wore my newer shoes and that took care of the pain under my big toe. (Although I think taking the past 4 days off to let the bruise heal helped).

Tomwhite, what's with the rock lugging? Please explain. I think I get that they're fossils, but what do you do with them?

Good Morning boomers . . . . err, I guess we aren't called boomers over here eh? good morning Mastermeisters!

Pink: nice recovery run!

Steve (Perch): have a good trip. Your humidity sounds terrible! I've become such a west coast wussy when it comes to humidity. (grew up in MN, so was used to humidity)

Kevin: nice 10 miles today at a good speed. My plan tomorrow is a 10 mile run, albeit slower than that. Probably more like a 9.5 min/mile pace.

Tom: you guys just aren't getting a break from those high temps are ya? does it cool down much at night?

Millbot: nice run and nice BF run. Have you been running BF long?

Pie: such a creative writer you are! congratulations on having your description chosen for our forum. Never mind it was the only idea submitted. I guess it's like winning 1st AG when you are the only one in your AG huh?

Linda: congratulations again on a nice run last night. I'm so glad to hear of the progress you are making.

Marie: YAY!!! on your 30 min run. That's FANTASTIC!!

I'll get in a 3.5 or 4 mile run on the TM at lunchtime and then am planning a 10 mile run tomorrow a.m.
speaking of pie . . . . I love caramel apple pie and now that apples will be ready to pick off my tree in late September, I can't wait to make a few.
speaking of ice cream(since it goes with pie) . . . I made up a divine homemade ice cream last night. I made vanilla ice cream and then added in some maraschino cherry juice, chopped up maraschino's, chopped up choc chips and then as I was adding the ice cream to my freezer container bowl, I layered in dolops of hot fudge. oh my word. . .

I also made up a killer batch of hot salsa the other night - with everything freshly picked right out of my garden - jalapenos, cayenne's, onions, garlic, tomatos, cilantro . . . soooo sooo good. WAY hot, but so good!

Have a good day all!

Tomwhite, I went out and watered my back garden naked this morning, I may have shocked my tree.

I have been running every day this week, hot and all, and at a pretty good pace. I have an 18 mile run scheduled for Saturday morning, so I plan to take today off.

Enjoy the gift all!

Howdy all,

I'm new here.... Used to hang with the 30's crowd but I got old and just couldn't keep up with their multi-pages of posts. This group seems almost as cool and I hear you have pie.... and boobie hugs so I decided to graduate to the Masters program.

My 4 miles this AM made 26 days straight, which is a new experience for me as I used to take at least 1 or 2 rest days a week. However, it still feels good and I'm enjoying the consistency. Tomorrow I've got 15K planned as the long run which I hope to work up to 25K and level off for a while until I start upping again late in the year in preparation for March marathons.

Good runs all!!!!

Welcomer MudPuppy.. nice string of runs. I still take days off, maybe one a week, but often it feels worse than doing an easy run instead.
Runinbehind... that's great. The runs after coming back from an injury always feel the most rewarding, so appreciated. Enjoy the gift!

Almost as cool?? I think the fact that we have pie AND boobie hugs automatically makes us more cool

well, tonight we are probably just having a frozen pizza for dinner (but I will bake it first) . . . how's that for putting a kabosh on my culinary goddessness? LOL

I went to the gym on my lunch hour, only to arrive and find that they are closed til the 27th for their annual "club scrub". errrrrr. . . So, now I'm on day three of no running. and it's just too hot out to run outside. I needed today's run to compensate for the ice cream I know I'll have tonight.

My garden cooking this year involves fermenting Dill Pickles in a big plastic Food Bucket. 2 weeks to go.

Road Hawk I think you are pretty close to the town my dad was born in: Leavenworth, KS. Isn't Platte City that little truck stop along I-29 just north of Kansas City? When I go to KC I always get gas at the Quick Trip there.

I'm in Omaha, about 2.25 hours north of you.
