Rise and shine

Had a great time at the group run last night. Ran 3.5 miles somewhere around HM pace, bought some new kicks (Mizuno Wace Precisions), Got some info on some new trails, and drank a couple of free beers. Memphis sucks, but one thing it does have is an awesome running community.

I'm not sure about today, me and DW declared today National Easton (DS) Day. We want to have a special day for him before the baby gets here. I think we're going to the movies to see Rango, and he wants to go to Chucky Cheese or Incredible Pizza. But anyways, I may try and get in a quick 3 mile shake-out today, but if I don't it won't be a big deal.

BBS - since job on the hash. Have fun at the movies.

I was too wimpy to run outside in 25F temps so hit the gym for 8+ miles on the TM. I hadn't been there in a while so figure I might as well get some use out of my membership. Yep, still a big ole gym.

Fishbowl for me this morning. Steady swim with single arm drills thrown in. Had a couple bunnies to chase which helped with motivation. 2000m.

Made an appt with my MT for Tuesday. NOT giving up on this running thing just yet! Told her I wasn't sure if I needed WD40 or a sledge hammer. Meh... we'll see what her magical fingers can do!

BBS--enjoy National Easton Day!

Asics--why is it that 25* feels so stupid cold now? Back in January that would have been warm!

fuller--enjoy the rest day.

MOM- Hope they can work the kinks out

Nice cruise run this morning. 3 miles in 24:30 (8:11). Had a big rock get wedged in the heel of my shoe half way in, couldn't kick it out. Sounded like tap shoes.

Nipply, er, nippy here too.

Quick fly-by for now on a very busy Friday. I have another easy day planned today, about 5 or so with some strides at the end. 10-12 easy, maybe the trail loop near home, tomorrow.

5k race tentatively planned for Sunday afternoon. I say tentative because I also have soccer in the morning, not sure I want to do both even though I signed up for the 5k a while ago. Also, there is a 5k race at lunchtime on the GMU-PWC campus middle of next week, which is a super-easy hit for me, given campus is right across the street from my office. I figure if I run 1 out of these 2 races, I've got my Cherry Blossom tune-up squared away. Aside from the mid-week race, if I do it, next week will be a 7-day taper to CB on 4/3.

OK, gotta fly away now...happy running and whatever else all.

Rest day today & that's a good thing. I noticed how tired my legs felt yesterday and tomorrow is long run with the group.

Cool news, friend called me and asked if I wanted 4 opening day txts for Phillies..... I said "Ah yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I am pumped!! Chase is still down and have a bad feeling it's for the year but opening day will be awesome. Plus the seats are about 6 rows back from phillies dugout! I owe this friend big time!

Well enough of that..Hope all have a great weekend and speedy running !

BBS - enjoy the DS "king for a day" day. We did those when the kids were little and it matters.

Try running outdoors in Nike Frees if you think the Mizunos are rock magnets.

Well, I'm so jealous of Apple now, that I am just going to have to go for a run.

I waited until lunch again and went for a 6 miler with a co-worker who's running Chicago as his first marathon - 34 degree and sunshine felt great. Off to NYC/Jersey tomorrow for spring break week.

BBS - sounds like fun last night, a couple of beers along the way would have been perfect this afternoon.

RA - nice 8 on the mill, hopefully nicer running weather this week.

kfuller - have fun streching

4boys - I had a massage last night trying to keep my hamstring on the right side of okay; hope your's does the trick

apple - cool stuff - I've retained my mets allegiance from childhood (though glommed on to the White Sox at some point in my quarter century in Chicago), but it is definitely being tested.

hawk - stay warm for the five

Have a nice weekend, all!

OK so I was able to get out for a somewhat late afternoon run near work. My afternoon meeting ended earlier expected so I took advantage of the fact it had warmed all the way to 48 outside.

5 miles easy, though you wouldn't know it from my pace today (7:50). I certainly didn't feel like I was going that fast. Just one of those days I guess. 5 x 30 second striders during the last mile...maybe that sped up my pace average.

Dreadmill. 36 minutes. No adverse affects, although I should say that my fingers went numb for a bit. Lesson learned as I ramp up, I need to be aware of the circulatory issues.
