<p>Looki: You know, where I live, during many summers you can get away very easily without AC. But this summer is more brutal. Not fun when the house, on the INSIDE, is 92 degrees, as it was the other day, and refusing to cool to under 90.</p>

<p>HeatherH: I, for one, actually LOVE the heat. Where I broke down was with the house, because the inside got to 92 degrees. I wasn't sleeping because the bedroom was stuck at a balmy 85 overnight; hence the AC units. But you won't find me complaining about the heat other than that. I love it! Far better than the alternative. But others don't like it.</p>

<p>ksurp: AC... wow, it really does make a difference. I picked up two 8000 btu units, installed them, buttoned up the house, and the entire house is now fine. Should have done that a few years ago.</p>

<p>5 mile run early this morning with Andyman and the Diesel. For whatever reason, I was seriously dragging ass this morning. I think it's because of the lack of sleep (see above comments) catching up with me. Just no nothing.</p>

<p>Son1 and I got home at 2am this morning.  He didn't get the Triple Crown as he got two flats.  One was a valve stem.  He had been nominated for Veteran of the Year.  Usually that honor goes only to group leaders, so quite impressive that he was nominated.  On the way home he was chattering about the rest of the season.  He's actually thinking about doing a 70.3 next month.  Hopefully he dad will talk some sense into him since I'm certainly not going to tell him he can't do it.</p>

<p>Exactly 2 miles of OW in Lake Michigan.   I'm going to take a few hours off in the afternoon and get a long run in, maybe 2-2.5 hours. </p>

<p>1400 yds in the pool this am which really helped get rid of the kinks this am...did some PT stuff aftwards and now I am taking the rest of the day off (from work and everything else)!</p>

<p>Rest day for me. Back to the lake with the boys today to cool off. It doesn't seem as hot or maybe I'm getting used to it</p>

<p>DH had a yucky workout this am. Friday morning is trash pickup. He went out to our shed where we keep the garbage cans to bring them to bottom of the driveway. The local bears knew it was trash day so they decided to open the shed door and take the trash and strew it all over the place in between stomping on DS mountain bike. (This is why my bike lives in the house!) DH then had to pick it all up and rebag it. I was in bed sleeping and he didn't even wake me up to get some help. I owe him big time!</p>

<p>Thor- Momma bear took some suet and bird feeders from both neighbors last week.  They've been seen in our back yard eating the berries on the hill.  Between the bears and the deer- I'm waiting for DH's garden to become the midnight buffet. </p>

<p>Early morning swim for me- 2,000m with mixed short, medium and long sets.  The pool was crowded last night with soakers who were just trying to cool off so I just didn't bother with it.  I am debating a very short run this evening.  The only reason I'd do it is to keep my legs moving and acclimation purposes. It might be nuts too as temps are supposed to be in the 90's. </p>

<p>rest day or lack of sleep due to rioting then getting to work a 12 hour shift again today night. I hate working 80 hours a week but i will be loving that paycheck in 14 days.</p>

<p>Up early-ish to make up for yesterday's missed workout.  40 min on the trainer doing Coach Troy's time saver intervals.  Man those hurt.</p>

<p>FIB 4 mile weak-ass run.  Poor sleep from the heat seems to be affecting many of us, myself included.  Looking forward to the cool-down this weekend, with highs projected in the low 80's - perfect!</p>

<p>As for me, a question.....What do you get when you combine five hours of sleep, with temps already at 80F (at 6:00AM), spinkle in 90% humidity, and then top it off with forgetting to use your inhaler (for exercise induced asthma) before heading out for a run?  It sure isn't an hour run with 5 x 1 minute pick-ups.  No, what you get is a <strong>5.2 mile slog at 8:50 pace</strong> with no pick-ups and a couple walking breaks (and a heart rate in the upper 160s).  Not a good morning for me, I think I was smart to end it when I did rather than try to push forward for another 14 minutes of sweaty hell.</p>

<p>Tonight I am scheduled to swim 3,000m at our pool club.  Thunderstorms are currently being predicted....not sure yet if I am hoping they hold off or wishing they rain down fire.  Secretly I really do want to do the swim, but I would welcome the rest.  Looking to hit the hay by 9PM and sleeping in until 7AM....unless the little ones wake me up earlier.</p>

<p>The heat is an energy suck, to be sure.</p>

<p>Those of us down in the south are sometimes dealing with that type of heat as early as May......so we are mildly acclimated by now.  Not that it doesn't still suck out the energy from you, but still.  It's always the worst for the first week or two.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>There have been many long runs where I literally had to wring the sweat out of my shorts before getting into the car to drive home from the meeting point.  NASTY!  I keep a towel in the car at all times for this purpose.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Yesterday was my first "short" run in the morning where the brim of my hat actually dripped.  Nice.  The only thing I could do was get to the tile in the kitchen as fast as possible, and strip out of my clothes there.  I didn't want to be dripping nastiness onto my carpets. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>I'm hoping that my pace will pick up when the weather turns this fall, too.  Slog slog slog.</p>

<p>63 minute progressive tempo run this morning.  Sweaty!  Ignored my 6am wake-up and opted for 7am.  CANNOT do this tomorrow morning for my brick...rain (yay!) predicted to start by 10am.</p>

<p>just a upper body lift session in the A/C at the Y.  Had planned on trying to join bike group but needed to get into work so I can get out at a decent hour and head to NH for the weekend.  based on weather I think I will be doing a lot of 12oz curls up there.</p>

<p>I'm still struggling with the forum look - fonts seems smaller (are they?), and it's just harder for me to read in general. I suppose I'll get used to it.  And, as others have said, I do think they did a much better job with this transition.  And hey, we're not dealing with Active Sara, or whatever her name was <img alt="wink.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/wink.gif"></p>
