<p>I ended up getting my 4 on the TM yesterday, along w/ 100 push ups and 150 crunches.  So I am gonna take a breather today.  Gotta go in early tonight, so It all works out anyways.</p>

<p>I officially advance an age group today.  Had a really good celebration with my bible study group last night.  Planned rest day today.  However, 70* and rain, I might just sneak out for an easy little trot.  Racing Sunday, so nothing serious.</p>

<p>I've got tempo on tap for today. It may very well be inside on the TM because it's hot and oppressively humid outside, with thunderstorms predicted throughout the day. 7 miles, middle 5 at about 7:00 pace -- not quite "tempo" for me but still sub-lactate threshold.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>So...anyone watching the Tour De France? Very interesting race so far.</p>

<p>Today's run: disaster.</p>

<p>I decided today to try running on the new TM at our office. But when I got on it I couldn't figure out how to wipe the last run off the machine and clear it so I could do my own. It kept trying to put me into one of its stupid pre-programmed runs that I didn't want. So I'd stop it, try to clear it and start it again. Then finally one time it stopped abruptly on me and I said "screw it. I'm going outside, humidity be damned."</p>

<p>So I did...first mile warmed up, then started the tempo 5. Humidity was absolutely oppressive and I knew 7:00 pace wasn't happening, but I seemed to settle OK at around 7:25. I figured on a day like today I'd take that.</p>

<p>Then disaster struck at 4. All of a sudden my left hamstring started tightening up. I stopped and tried to stretch it and start again. Nothing doing. Slowed down to a jog and that lasted about 1.5 miles, at which point it was time for the walk of shame back to the office.</p>

<p>Luckily it didn't pop or anything. But I definitely think I'm out about a week. I'm pretty sure that TM is to blame, because the movements on it were really jerky and awkward. That's probably when the hammy tightened up and I didn't realize it at the time. I've been running on treadmills for years and have never experienced that. Last time I ever run on that POS. <span><img alt="mad.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/mad.gif"></span></p>

<p>Time to get on the phone and see if I can get into my chiropractor's office this afternoon and start the rehab.</p>

<p>Lunchtime almost 5 for me, trying for as 'nice and easy recovery' as I could manage in the 85 degree sun.   Cutback week coming up with a shorter long run this weekend.   Gotta get in my PT homework glute/hip exercises tonight, including something called Elvis knees.  </p>

<p><strong>Hawk</strong> - yikes!  Hope it's nothing serious.  Tour de what?  Like when Jordan retired (the 2nd time) I stopped watching the NBA.  Same thing with the TdF and Lance Armstrong.  Not that I really cared before but at least I'd know 1 rider...</p>

<p>Anyway, back in town after two travels days with no running.   Now I have a make up weekend...  probably 8 Saturday and 15 Sunday, which would be my longest run since the Illinois marathon at the end of April... should be interesting.</p>
