Went to bed later than I should've and I woke up extremely sore all over. I feel old, why the heck am I sore when I haven't even done anything. I wish I had one of those amazing beds and pillows because my neck and back seem to be the worst.

Oh well...hopefully 8 afterschool.

Sorry you are aching this morning alex. Maybe you should go for a run to loosen up.

I put in 10 miles this morning @ a 7:45 pace. Felt pretty good. that is the longest I have run since the marine corps marathon back in October.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Getting old Alex...

Enjoy your lunch Tonya. Sometimes I wish I could run during lunch so I could say that I eat miles for lunch, but I usually don't take a lunch break, and I don't have access to a shower here.

Dave- Nice pace for your longest run in three or so months.

For me, another pretty positive 10 mile run. Set a real easy 140 bpm ceiling for the run, and once again averaged 20-30 seconds faster per mile than I typically do at that effort level. Hopefully 2 days in a row means its not a fluke and my body's finally getting used to the mileage enough to improve. Then again, maybe I was just subconciously trying to get back quicker so the ice on my eyebrows would melt (I know it's not Chicago, but it was still -8 or so wind chill)

6 easy scheduled for tonight. It'll take some discipline to not go more I think, but I'm due for a rest and recovery day.

Good runs today all.

Good morning Alex, Tonya, and Dave.

Unusual early morning run this morning - missed last night due to the showing of the "Spirit of the Marathon." The movie inspired. Early in the movie my eyes welled up a bit when Deena entered the Olympic stadium in Athens. The movie covered a lot of ground with the broad range of athletes. I found it easy to relate to all of the featured runners.

A little frigid this morning 7F at 6am, but I stayed comfy wearing two of everything. 3.25 miles easy in 27 minutes. Cooled down with 4x strides. Felt great, considering the cold.

Tomorrow's 50k weather forecast will be the most extreme temperature I'll have raced. Looking at 15F at the 7am start and 25F by noon.

TGIF, and have a great weekend!

Morning, all.

Alex -- Too young to be sore, my friend. Get better.

Tonya -- Enjoy the, um, "break" with your weenie 8-mile run.

Dave -- Great pace for you, man.

Mailbox -- Nice mileage in those conditions. You're the better man.

Me -- Shovel some snow this a.m., then off to work. I'll probably treadmill this eve.

Oh, yeah. Caught the marathon movie last night. I had high hopes, but I'm sad to say I was pretty disappointed. Some beautiful shots of '05 Chicago, but I thought the film's purpose was to bring the concept of the marathon, and those who run them, to the masses. Frankly, I didn't think it was very informative, or even interesting at most points. Most entertaining part was Katherine Switzer's discussion of her signing up for Boston in the sixties as "K.W. Switzer", when they didn't allow women (??, and being physically accosted by race officials trying to force her off the course. (they didn't catch her).

Wouldn't recommend going to the theater -- just maybe rent it when you can. I'd love to hear Megs' and Jen's take on it.

Morning all;

Nice runs in all ready.

As my hip soreness continues I'm playing my workouts by ear. I had a tempo run schedule for today but will probably run easy again or cross-train (which I hate). All very annoying since my HM is two weeks out.

I saw THE movie last night... Our running joke was that there were marathon registration forms waiting in the lobby. I too wanted more details, particularly Deena Kastor's training - not just her running by at light speed or finishing a run. Some of the history of the marathon was cool. Overall, it was quite inspiring and the content mostly fitted the movie title. It was also a good tourist infomerical for Chicago. We stayed to watch the DVD bonus material, which was hit and miss.

Welcome to my world. When I was your age, I lived in a shoebox in the middle of the road. I got up before I went to bed and ran 50 miles, uphill, to work in the mill 25 hours a day and thought myself lucky. Seriously though, it was only 20 miles.

Sounds like a touch of dehydration.

Hi guys.

Alex? Earth to Alex? Come in Alex? You're ancient!

Been a busy week, 8 miles to work on Wednesday, hard pace with a bit of a hit and run interaction with a truck. I'm fine, truck might have a dented hood. Meh.

Doubles yesterday, totalling to 8.5 miles, 5 miles with the running clinic last night. Great group of people, and I have no doubt that they'll all do well in the Half Marathon.

5.7 miles easy today.

Going back country skiing this weekend, might cut short a long run on Sunday depending. 35 miles for the week so far.

Have good ones all.

Alex... you are a young shit. What are you complaining about?!?!?!?!?!

Great runs all y'all!!

I did not see "the movie" last night. Talked to a friend of mine at the gym this morning. She wasn't totally thrilled about the movie. She did, however, enjoy seeing all of our running group!

Yep, gym for me this morning. Fishbowl. Short little 1600. WU drills, 6x100, 4x50, CD. Typical Friday workout... Yawn...

Then for my run. Dog gone COLD out there!!! But, I ended up over dressing. Decent run, though. Garmin is giving me crazy numbers, but I can't see where the tracking is off. 3.78m, 31:38, 8:21pace. I just don't see holding an 8:21pace and it being as easy as it was.

Big news--I ordered new shoes last night!!!! Coach tried to order Brooks Radius for me. He gets a 25% discount. Except, Brooks didn't have 'em. So I got to surfing and found Adrenaline 6's and ordered 2 pairs. Yah, the really old ones. That I have run through about 8 pairs. Hoping, hoping, hoping that they actually do have 'em.

Hubby was grumbling about me getting new shoes, they don't make his shoes anymore, etc, etc, etc. So, I looked for his shoes. Etonic Trans Am trainers. He's been wearing 'em since '87. THis current pair died about 6mos ago, but he's still wearing 'em. I found those, too! He told me to order four pairs of 'em. Good thing they are $25/pair!

Same here. Time for new shoes. I realized yesterday that I'm at 482.2 miles on mine, and I just bought them December 5th! Someone's been running too many miles. So, if I'm going to be able to run my 22 miler next week, I need to be ordering some shoes today. YAY! Love me some new shoes.

Got up this morning and did 40 minutes of core work and that is all for the day. I got new Asics Ds Trainers the other day the 12's not the new 13's and for one run they have been good.

Tonya-- Maybe someday you can get sponsored and get free shoes. One place I buy shoes is holabirdsports.com. They always discount their shoes.

Have a great morning everyone.

Thanks! I have bought so many shoes from them, they should sponsor me.

Kevin - I remember reading about those. I wonder why people love Asics so much? Phillip has some as well; he loves them. I wish Nike would sponsor me...I could only be so lucky.

Morning all, and amen on that TGIF!

It's cold out there today but I've got an easy day planned before going long tomorrow. 5 miles today at a really easy pace, then tomorrow it's 16.

Alex - geez man, suck it up and get out there to run.

Kfuller - wow 40 minutes of core work. That's a lot.

4bm - your husband sounds like my wife. She had a new pair of adidas Microbounces sitting in the shoebox for weeks and didn't change them over until I looked at her old shoes and told her, uh, honey it's time to retire those babies.

Grizzly - how does a fan of les Canadiens survive in Alberta? Enjoy the XC skiing this weekend.

RA - you forgot about the barefoot in the snow part.

Mailbox - nice run last night and good luck with the TM shopping this weekend.

roots - nice easy run, sounds like the one I have planned for today.

Chances - I missed the movie, thanks for the critique of it. Sounds a lot like the ballyhooed PBS special on Boston a few months ago. But I still would like to see it for myself.

Dave - nice job on the run. Not that I ever thought you had "lost" it.

OK, work beckons. Back later after my run.

Turns out I'm going to be in Columbus, Ohio from Feb.19-22nd for work. Does anybody know of anything I can do when I'm out there? I've already checked the there are no OSU basketball games and no Blue Jackets games. Closest thing to do sports-wise is a Cavs game in Cleveland, and that's too far away.

Is there anything to do out there? Maybe something non sports related?

The only thing I can think of is COSI there. It's kind of dorky, but pretty fun too.

Of course, if you wanted to make the hour drive over to Dayton, you could get a run in with me if you don't mind going really slow.
