Good morning, TEAM LIT!

Don: Congrats on the promotion!

Me...

6 mile tempo run early this morning on roads with sporadic black ice. No real close calls although I did slip a bit here and there.

Got an interview later for a study on marathon psychology, including training, racing, and taper. Will get some swag for my time. Fun stuff. A buddy reached out to me asking if I wanted in, so he hooked me up.

Great day, y'all!

On this day in 1128, Pope Honorius II grants a papal sanction to the military order known as the Knights Templar, declaring it to be an army of God. (history.com).

I really liked this quote ... I'll have to keep it in mind every morning when I crawl out of bed and my body is aching before another run...

I take the other choice. I try to see the best. My life is great. I have amazing opportunities ahead of me, and I make the best out of it and try not to beat myself up that age has anything to do with it. I know there's a reality that eventually, OK, I won't be able to PR, and that's fine. As long as I can trick my body and my mind a little longer, I'm going to have fun with it. -- Magdalena Lewy Boulet

Congrats to all you hearty folks who were out running yesterday in the winter conditions. And a big congrats to Don for his promotion!

xflbk - Nice job on the tempo run yesterday.

RonBo - sorry the doc didn't work out for you. Keep at it man, you'll find something that works for you.

Me - Just another solid basebuilding run today. Started out with my 2 min lunge warm-up, then on the TM. Did 8.5 mi in an hour, averaged 7:07 min/mi pace and held my HR at z1/z2, actually my average was 138 which is the top of z1. My sore ankle was okay, better than yesterday, but still not 100%.

Another hour on the TM on tap for this evening.

Have a great weekend, tri-peeps!

Hi Peeps,

Besides the shoveling, I got in a good 90 minute ride on the computrainer on a hilly course. That's about it.

Mike: 7:07pace for an hour z1/z2. Yikes.. well done!

Another base building miles here too. A minor () difference from Mike's run is I get about 7miles out of an hour and he gets 8.5miles. See, that explains he runs 70-somehing miles a week and I run 50-something miles ... The first time this year my entire route was covered with snow. Not too slippery but definately my shoes weren't gripping the ground. One thing I am not doing this training cycle is mid-week medium long run (12~15miles). Hard to squeeze that in. It may be probably true that MLR is one of the keys to a successful marathon, but I am curious how much - is there a major differnce between {five 7miles runs} vs. {one 12miles + four 5~6miles runs}

Maybe core workouts later. DH and DS heading to a scout camping. In this wintery weather. Nuts.

Wintry run. Cut a bit short - 4.9 miles at 8:40 pace ... kind of magical in fog, but didn't help the legs feel any better. Too much wrasslin' with the snow blower yesterday, methinks. Still - 3 runs and 15+ miles a week. Just another 35 to go to catch up with Yoshi!

Niemsco's back!!!

After a big long vent to my coach, my doc, and my PT something nice came up. PT happened to be AT another Doc, that he likes a LOT and got me in. Like CAN-YOU-COME-OVER-RIGHT-NOW. Well hell yeah! Oh wait, just as soon as done with Parent Teacher conference at school

Went over there, he had already told them what a pain in the ass I am, so that saved a lot of time. This guy is a multi-marathoner. He GETS it. He evald me, talked to me, LISTENED to me, Talked PT Geek with my PT, and said that it's either a wicked stubborn case of PF or possibly a calcanus stress fracture. Looking at my xray it wasn't that remarkable but there was calcification around the back heel. Due to my weight and history? Maybe. Or a stress fracture. It bothered him greatly I was pain free for 2 nights and then did a very short run and suddenly I'm set back 2+ weeks and it was still not any better, at all, 4 days later. MRI ordered, will do next Wed.

Until then, PT gets shifted up to 3x/wk. We will go under assumption it is wicked stubborn PF but then if it's a stress fracture, deal with that then. There are holes in both theories.

Anyway, that means at LEAST another week if not 2 of no running. If Stress Fx? Many more. If PF? Possibly more too. So I need to just accept I'm grounded for a while.

I did get in a good 2 hours of PT work together and stretching stuff.

So... keep moving forward
