Moonie - I would say after an Oly tri you'll be tired but not sore at all. It might take a few days to not feel a little sluggish but you should be fine by the following weekend.

Also as a disclaimer - I'm hoping to NOT have the stroller in the 5k tomorrow. It's a fairly narrow and hilly trail so probably not the safest. Plus this is the first year of the race so who knows? all the phast phuckers might not have heard of it and I could post a W!!

Hi all.

Just got back from Reno. Fly-by day at the office. Ilovemyjob, Ilovemyjob, Ilovemyjob... Nope. Not working.
I'd so rather be back in Reno hanging out with / taking care of my big brother. Felt like one of the most important things I've ever done.

Got in a few decent runs while down there. Had a chance to try a new trail that Sierra showed me after we had lunch. It was a lot of fun. A few days later, MASSIVE wildfire broke out right next to it. From bro's house, we could see it when it was only about 10 acres large. With the wind and the dry conditions, we watched it grow to over 1200 acres within 36 hours. Just checked the Reno papers online -- it's over 2700 acres now, and only 34% contained... Just so scary to watch.

I haven't kept up with much lately, but:
Crane - I am so sorry about the wedding bell blues. Families have a way of making your day all about them. DW and I got so fed up, we were this close to eloping. To hell with what they would have thought. BIG part of me still wishes we had. IMHO, if they want to be a PITA about MY wedding, then they forfeit the right to object to anything about the wedding. I wish you the very best of luck. You and Mr. Crane deserve to enjoy the day, for chrissakes...

PRAE - congrats on the C25K completion!! You must be so proud of yourself!! I am very happy for you.

Best of luck to all racers, especially Theia - her first Triathlon!! Wow. All the best to Andrew on his IM as well. No matter how many have been completed, each IM is one helluva undertaking.

Sorry to read about the inuries. Hope all continue to heal well....

Cheers.

FWIW, I was afraid to look back the whole last mile because I knew if you were there it was trouble...I was so done...I remember at one point worrying that you were like 15 feet behind me stalking me, just waiting to go in for the kill.

Coach T keeps lists of everything...he's the NSA agent in the 30's thread. He probably has a more up to date version of my running log than I do!

Crane - so sorry to hear about your wedding woes. Dealing with family can be challenging to say the least.

LL & Maples - you know how it is when you ask kids to smile! They do crazy stuff. Candid smiles where you say something funny and then they kinda laugh tend to be a little more realistic, but hey, kids will be kids, and this trip was for them. I was jus there to snap pics so mom (who's not a camper) could see what she was missing.

Voo - Love me some Stella...it's one of my fav beers! (Too bad I didn't know you when I was an Account Exective for my company and assigned to ohio...I spent a lot of time in the Akron area. Used to stay mostly at the Sheraton Cuyhoga falls, or a courtyard that was next to a holiday inn that had a restaraunt called something like the Hyde park grill...same exit has a Don Pablos and a Damons. I have to be near the right kinda food when I travel. )

Just back from a steamy 10K (2 laps of last night's race course) at lunch. Man it was hot out there. The first 5K was just cooking, then the last 5K there was stiff wind as an afternoon thunder cloud rolled it, but it never rained.

so back from the Y - actually did a little bike ride (did some random program. . .) got cleaned up realized that I pulled a Prae (or was it Heather? either way. . .) now I've got a secret. . .

Y Etiquette Question: seriously, is there some book I never got that says, "do not make eye contact with anyone?" I mean I can understand in the showers and stuff (but even there, really, it's not like we all got different parts. . .) and I do understand that not every one has my lack of modesty, but still. . .Am I not supposed to look at people? Not supposed to smile? What the hell is going on?!?!

Sorry. . .I just feel like everyone read the memo I never got. . .

For those of us not fortunate enough to know the history of Prae's (or was it Heather's) secret...what's that all about?...

Clearly, you're problem is that everyone in your gym is from Boston...

I would like to, at this time, point out the correctness of Korbel's reasoning here: every other GUY. Ha. I'm still first. . .
